Overall

There was nothing I liked. Truthfully I suggest to many to do what they can to avoid suffolk. I struggle to give the school a compliment in any way. If I have to say one positive thing about the school is that I always have an interesting story to share with my friends.

Academics

The programs weren't offered at all campus' which was extremely difficult. The workload and class size are acceptable. The professors are another story. I've had 1 who was expected to teach a course that knew nothing about the subject. Another had a complete mental break down during class. Completey horrifying.

Campus Facilities & Safety

For the most part everything is good minus the parking. I have been stuck in traffic from the parking and the people leaving the campus for 40 minutes at times. Parts of the parking lots are dead ends so if you can not find a spot in that lot, you have to do more than a three point turn. It is not tolerable.

Overall

I had a very good experience at Suffolk. I attended the Brentwood Grant Campus from Fall 05 through Spring 07 and received my Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences. For that phase of my development Suffolk was the right place for me to be, I didn't know what or where I wanted to go in life and Suffolk offered affordable and quality education in a safe environment where I was able to complete all of my general education courses as well as a few very interesting and memorable courses such as Astronomy and studying the Holocaust. Learning about the stars in the planetarium in the Sagtikos building is an experience I will never forget. Suffolk offers a lot of student services and should you put in the effort you can take away a lot more than you would think you could get out of Community College. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to stay home on Long Island, wants to avoid huge student loans or is only looking for a 2 year degree.

Academics

There is a very wide variety of courses that are offered by Suffolk in many different areas of study. I was able to pick classes that were very interesting to me as well as covering all of my general education requirements that are fully transferable to any other SUNY school. All of the professors I had were enjoyable, I can't recall having a professor I hated but I do remember serveral that I loved. Class sizes vary but mostly I'd say they were 20-30 students or so. Some classes were much smaller and more intimate and I think I only took one or two very large classes. The work load wasn't huge it felt like a comfortable progression coming straight out of high school.

Campus Facilities & Safety

I really enjoyed the atmosphere provided by Suffolk. I never spent much time in the cafe so I can't comment there but I liked the big well manicured fields especially during the Fall. There is wifi available to students across the entire campus and several computer labs as well as a very nice library. Lots of parking as this is a commuter only school but be prepared to learn when rush hour is and which times you need to get there early to find parking anywhere close and the times you probably want to stay a little later to let the traffic clear out. I didn't participate much in any of the campus activities or organizations but it's not because they weren't offered. Lots of different clubs and activities were always going on and I heard good things about them from those who participated.

Overall

Overall the school's appearance is clean and well maintained. What I like most is the flexibility of classes: day, evening, and online. i am excited about the good reputation of the education at the Selden campus, and the ability to transfer to a 4 year college after my 2 years at the Selden campus.

Academics

I am not currently enrolled, but I will enroll in Computer/IT related courses and core academic courses. I look forward to the reputation of good professors and small diverse classes, and beginning my 2 year program in Computer/IT studies as a full time student. I plan to take 12-15 credits a semester.

Campus Facilities & Safety

What I saw was a positive campus atmosphere, and what appears to be a good learning environment. Computer labs interest me most, and taking part in intramural sports activites. Parking is not abundant; therefore, I recommend students give themselves additional time to find parking.
