Academics Rating

Classes are very small and intimate ranging from 18-25 students in each of the core classes, and only around 6-12 students in specific areas of study classes. I know everyone in each of my classes, and more importantly so do each of my professors. Not only do they know each of us students by name, but know us fairly well by the end of the semester. They genuinely care about us and invest their time in us. They have great office hours available to meet with them. Often times I have gone in their office spending upwards of 45min to an hour talking about not only schoolwork, but plans for the future and about our personal lives outside school. Even though the teachers are great, it does not mean classes are easy. All of my classes so far have been challenging, but not too much to handle. I have learned to manage my time, and write papers often. Classrooms are always open for studying and homework 24/7 which is great. Samford has a number of very highly recognized programs such as the pharmacy school, the business school, the nursing school, and the law school. Also offered are several majors with great success. For example, the interior architecture program at Samford is outstanding, but flies under the radar. In the past few years every single graduate of the program actively seeking employment or further education either has a career in the field or is attending a graduate school; this is HUGE for the design world. Samford has a very highly distinguished name amongst professionals around the United States and around the world. I cannot express enough about how fantastic this school really is.
