About John A Gupton College

John A. Gupton College has provided training for funeral directors since 1946. Its comprehensive curriculum, which combines liberal arts and vocational courses, is designed to prepare you for the funeral service National Board Exam.

Currently, the school offers two programs:

  • Funeral Service
  • Funeral Director

The Funeral Service course is an associate’s degree program, while Funeral Director is a certificate course designed for professional development. Only graduates of the associate’s degree program are eligible to take the National Board Exam.

In the Funeral Service program, half of your studies will be in business, natural science, the humanities, mathematics and social science. The other half will consist of professional training in funeral service, mortuary science and restorative art. The program requires 62 hours, and can be completed in as few as 16 months.

John A. Gupton College is eligible for state and federal financial aid programs, such as the Tennessee Tuition Grant, the Pell Grant and VA Benefits.

Admissions requirements for Gupton College include an official high school transcript or GED, a current photo of yourself, two letters of recommendation and a $50 application fee. Students applying to the associate’s degree program must also send official ACT scores.
