Overall

I think that Stetson University is an overall good school. The university will challenge you academically in order to prepare you for the life ahead. It tries to create as many opportunities to make new friends and be active in the community of Deland. Our facilities have that older vibe to them due to the fact Stetson is one of the oldest universities, but they still are top-notch. Sports wise we play big name schools, which is cool because of how small the population at Stetson is.

Academics

Academically Stetson is going to push you to the limits, but the end result once you get your degree will benefit you in the long run. The professors actually care about you and try their hardest to help you with anything you are struggling with. You are going to have a workload at which ever college you go to, but you just have to be able to plan well enough to stay on track because you do not want to get behind. Finally, the class sizes are AMAZING, the biggest class I have had so far is 35 students and that was a biology class. Other than that my classes have been 12-25 students just like in high school, which gives the teacher the opportunity to know you as a person and connect to more than at a bigger university.

College Life

The social atmosphere at Stetson is great. When you first arrive as a freshman, they prepare many events so you can connect with others in your incoming class. There are many different clubs/organizations that you can join here in you are interested in them. Next, we have basically our own police officers called Public Safety, and you will be given their number to call whenever you feel the need to. There are buttons around campus that you can push if you feel like you are in trouble or whatnot. Finally, the weekend activities are the best. There are many different things you can do. For example, Daytona and Orlando are right around the corner.

My favorite part about stetson is the fact that it makes you feel that just by going their you have already accomplished something great. To someone who is debating attending I would tell them not to be afraid of the price because the moment you start attending classes you know it is worth it.

Academics

Stetson is always challenging it's students to do better than their best. I have only been going to the school or a semester yet I already feel like I have learned so much. This is especially true because all of the professors give of this air of being experts among experts, but while still feeling approachable so you always feel like you can ask them anything and they will help you find the answer.

College Life

Stetson is a walk friendly campus, this means that you always feel like your able to make it to their many campus events or just hang out with your friend because it is only a short walk away. Being such a small campus you feel like you know everyone and there is this sense of family that means everyone is looking out for each other.

Stetson University surprised me a lot. I was very impressed with how much the professors really try to get to know their students and how much they want you to succeed in college and life. Stetson provides a lot of different cultural events which are very interesting to go to and listen to speakers from around the country and world. For any students planning to go to Stetson, I would definitely suggest that they keep an open mind and try to get to know as many people as possible. Stetson is a very diverse university with a lot of different experiences and opportunities. If you come here be sure to take advantage of it. Also, I would give the advice to join Greek Life at Stetson. It is a completely different experience than at other larger universities and it is the best thing I could have done. Being from out of state, I am a long way from home and Greek Life at Stetson has provided me with an amazing support system and has really gotten me involved in the university and community. Stetson has so much to offer and I promise any new students that if you really try to immerse yourself in all of the opportunities here at Stetson that you won't regret it.

Academics

Stetson has an incredible variety of different courses you can take. The professors are all amazing and do their best to help you because they really want you to succeed. The class sizes are small which is great because you get to really know your professors and they become almost like friends. Stetson has so many great opportunities in academics to find internships and research projects which will help a lot when looking for a job.

College Life

At Stetson, there is so much to get involved in. Stetson has an Org Fair in both the spring and fall to help students find organizations that really fit who they are and help you get involved in the university. Greek Life is amazing at Stetson and is so much different than at larger universities. The campus is extremely safe, the Public Safety is always making a presence on campus. Also, athletics are great especially since Stetson just started back up their football team. Finally, on the weekend you are so close to the beach and Orlando that you can always find things to do with friends. Even if you stay in Deland, there are the Deleon Springs which are very cool, and a lot of neat shops and restaurants downtown.

Upon arriving at Stetson for a visit I automatically fell in love with the atmosphere of the school. The sun was shining and everyone around me seemed happy and carefree. After I moved in I made friends instantly with my hall mates and with those in my classes.

Academics

Depending upon the major, the workload can get out of hand at times. As an economics major, I have a steady workload and really enjoy my professors in the business school. I am only a freshman, but so far my experience with the programs and professors have been excellent. The class size is really what won me over. Most of my classes have about 15 students, which is less than the number of classmates I had in high school.

College Life

I am on the cheerleading team here, and I love everyone on my team. The athletics here are growing rapidly and I can't wait to see where we'll be in a few years. I feel safe going about campus at night and on weekends because public safety if always available to take me home or just be around. I am in the Global Leadership Program and Partners Campus and they are both great clubs. The clubs and Greek life here are different than most schools. They are really focused on helping the community.

I think that Stetson is a good school overall. It's a small private school, so you can get a lot of benefits out of it. The most memorable experience I have had at Stetson is Homecoming 2013. Football is back at school for the first time in 57 years. It is a huge deal for the university. Faculty an staff did an outstanding job planning activities during the homecoming week that would lift the school spirit and pride of the students. When I was applying for schools, I didn't visit campuses much. I came to Stetson only ice and didn't really talk to any students here at school. I wish I asked my peers about their opinion of the university. For prospective students I would deffinietly recommend communicating with the peers to get the most accurate description of the school. If you don't like a small school and enjoy partying a lot, stetson is not a good fit for you. So make sure to get students' opinions first.

Academics

Stetson has a wide variety of classes an programs. It has arts and science school, music school and business school. Almost all types of students can find something to study at the university that will fit their interests. Professors are very helpful and are willing to meet with students outside of class. Since it is a very small school, you get a lot of one on one time with your professors. They always know their subjects very well and explain material very clearly. Classes at stetson are very small, which allows students to make connections with the professors and build close relationships with them. Workload depends on a class. All professors have different grading systems an different grading criteria.

College Life

The school itself is very small, so everybody knows each other. Rumors spread really fast and everybody knows each other's business. For a small school, there is a wide variety of clubs and organization for students with different interests. There is an organization fair in the beginning of each academic year, which allowed students present their clubs and recruit members. Public safety is very nice on campus. They always give you rides at night to further parts of campus if you don't feel safe or just don't feel like walking. Campus itself is very safe, and I never feel uncomfortable at any time of the day. There is a wide range of athletics. It is a division I school, so the level is pretty high. I am on the tennis team myself an we compete against some big schools like FSU and UF. Athletic events are fun and full of supporting students. Of course, it's not like a huge state school, where the football stadium is huge and there are thousand of fans, but is perfect for the size of the small school Stetson is. Stetson is located in Deland, which is a very small town. There are not that many activities in this small city, so if you want to do something fun you have to go out of the city and drive from 20 minutes to an hour depending on where you want to go, Daytona or Orlando. If you don't have a car, Stetson can get boring on the weekends. People here still make the best of it and make fraternity parties and nights out on the weekend pretty entertaining.

I love Stetson University, and I am proud to be a Hatter. I love the small class sizes, the campus life, and everyone who works here at the school. No matter where you go on campus, there's something going on, the professors are great and helpful, and the small class sizes mean that you get one on one help and more learning done. I think that one of the most memorable experiences has been joining Student Government Association and becoming a senator for Florida Future Educators of America, and meeting some really great and diverse people. I suggest that prospective students make sure to check online for all of the clubs and organizations and start thinking about what they may want to join, and always remember the Magic 3 rule: choose three organizations or clubs and stick to those three, or else you'll be getting a boatload of emails and texts asking where you were when you don't show up to the other 12 clubs you signed up for.

Academics

Here at Stetson, we offer many classes and programs, ranging from Education and Music to Biochemistry, to Family Business and Religious Studies. There are many degrees offered, and they are all extremely diverse. Class sizes are small and you get a lot of help and support from your professors, who only want to see you succeed. The workload varies depending on your major, and there's always tutors and people in your classes that can help you if you ever need help.

College Life

There's always something happening on campus, and it's really easy to find it through the Stetson website. The clubs and organizations are fantastic, and if you see that we don't have a certain club or organization, you can always make one! We've just had our first real football team in 57 years, and we have all sorts of other sports like lacrosse, rowing, baseball, volleyball, basketball, and so many more. Again, if there's a club or intermural sport that you want to have on campus, start it! I know some people who started a Stetson Club Quidditch team. Our campus safety is great, and Public Safety, our security officers on campus, are so great. On the weekends there's always something going on around campus, and if you want to get off campus for a while, you can go to local historic downtown Deland, Daytona Beach is only about 15 minutes away, and Orlando is about 45 minutes away.

Stetson is located in a small town and defiantly holds on to that. Don't expect any wild crazy parties like the big states schools but nights are fun. The students care about their academics and any of the teachers I have interacted with have been great! The campus is really cute. The best part is the Green where we can lie out on when it is sunny.

Academics

Classes are small, after all it is a small school. The largest class I have ever taken had at least 23 students in it. The small class sizes allows you to get personal attention with your professor, which is good when you are struggling. Work load depends on your major but you are challenged. If you are having trouble there is the Academic Success Center which helps you come up with a study plan and connects you with a tutor.

College Life

There are a lot of clubs on campus. Greek life is HUGE on campus. But if you choose to not be a part of it there are other things to do and get involved with. There is always something going on campus, whether it's an intramural game or a movie being played.

I think the school is worthwhile. The education along with the things you go through here give you a wide variety of experiences and sets you up for success post-college. The food choice isn't the greatest but it does the trick. You have numerous resources on the educational side enabling you to study effectively and teachers in close environments who are willing to actually care about those they teach other than simply lecturing a class. Stetson University, like all schools is what you make it. Although it could be much cheaper, I feel as though it will all be worthwhile.

Academics

My classes are semi-demanding, challenging and rewarding. Typically it isn't too much and can be done efficiently, just need the time management skills as always. Class sizes are small and personal which allow the professors to get on an intimate level. I enjoy my classes and I have noted that laziness will honestly cause you to fail, so being complacent is unacceptable.

College Life

The nightly life isn't the greatest but if you hang out with the greeks then they seem to make it worthwhile every time. There are just about always programs and events going on at the school, such as recently we had a free Andy Grammar and Parachute performance thrown by the school. As long as you aren't a dorm dweller you will typically know a good amount of people. The social life, is set up to be great, so in turn it will be what you make it with all of the organizations consistently putting on events and Brickhouse on a Friday night, allowing a social escape from classes. I repeat, it is what you make of it. so it can be great, or quite the opposite.

The students know each other and the faculty. It is like we are all one big family helping each other succeed in our dreams. Best school by far. The academics are challenging but the school helps you get through. they prepare you very well for exams and for the next level. They are wonderful at integrating the student body together. if we don't have you a major for you, you can create one. its an amazing school and you meet great friends.

Academics

The professors actually care about the students. They work with you to help achieve your goals. There are many great classes to take. I recommend taking classes out of your comfort zone, college is about experiencing new things and opening up your mind. For example, I am currently taking a Gender Studies class the Dr. Kader. It is a hard class but its content is extremely interesting. It opens your eyes to what happens all over the world. I recommend it. The classes are small and hands on. I love It!

College Life

Campus safety is amazing. They are very quick to respond, and will even escort you across campus if you are in the library at late hours studying. The clubs are very student friendly. Its easy to be involved, unlike big schools, everyone has a great chance to be involve. we have great Intramural sports program where everyone can have fun competing in sports including football, basketball, hockey, softball, dodge ball, soccer , volley ball and more. the Greek life is really special. Almost everyone is in a sorority or frat, but its more like a group of friends who become your family, than stereotypical Greeks. You can also go downtown and hang out with friends for night life activities. overall its fun.

I absolutely love my school. The teachers are great, fair and take time to understand you. The extracurricular activities are by far, amazing. If you do not like any of the one hundred clubs/organizations here on campus, then you are welcome to start you own. The atmosphere is comfortable and the campus is beautiful. However, though the food is decent you do not have many choices.

Academics

I am a double major so my favorite thing about the classroom is that the number of students is relatively small. This way you get one on one experience with the teacher and have intellectually stimulating conversations with the other students. It is not hard to get in touch with your teacher about a question- whether it be during their office hours or e-mail- they are quick to respond. The workload- depending on your schedule- is not bad (unless you are a music or biology major, they are -by far- challenging and hectic, scheduling wise). If you pick a classes with topic that you want to learn about you will have NO problem enjoying the class. If you are not sure about taking a curtain class you have your academic advisor who will answer all your questions, from; "Will this class help me," "Is this class the best decision?" or "What classes will I need to complete my major?" Of course, since the campus is relatively small you can always ask around and the students will give their honest opinion about what classes they loved, did not like or what teacher worked best with them.

College Life

Personally, I am apart of many clubs on campus. I am part of Greek Life, and absolutely love it- though it is very expensive. I am apart of the Theater program that that is a so much fun for anyone who wishes to entertain, work backstage or simply act. Their are also religious groups, of all kinds. Their are cultural clubs, language clubs, community service clubs and more. We have lots of sports (from basketball to baseball, volleyball to tennis) and if you do not wish to play you are more than welcome to go and cheer on our team! (We also just brought football back to campus!) If you want to play but do not wish to play "professionally" or take up a lot of time, we have clubs sports you can join. If there is a club/organization that you want and we don't have, you can make it! (My friend just started a women's soccer club)
