Reviews for University of Nebraska, Omaha
If you can not get a degree here, you can not get one anywhere. I completed my associate's at a community college and finished my bachelor's at UNO; I am waiting to be accepted into graduate school at UNO for professional administration. I worked full time and went to school 3/4 time, the evening and online classes make it possible for someone with a busy life to obtain a degree, if they are willing to put in the effort. This is a great university for the working adult and military veterans. I had a lot of trouble with other college VA departments, but I had no trouble at all with the VA department at UNO.
The classes are what you make of them, many students seem to put in minimal effort. The professor's are like any other group of people; some are there for a check and others put in real effort. Overall, I feel that the majority of the faculty and staff do an excellent job. The work load is heavy at times; however, I am an honor student, so I overdue things a lot when I could probably slack off a little and still do well. I have noticed that the faculty do notice when you are putting in a lot of effort; this shows when final grades are posted.
I've attended a few social functions at UNO, the food has been great. The campus seems safe, security everywhere. Plus, if you can't find something to do in Omaha, you don't have a pulse.
I think this is a great school as long as they have the major your want to get. The housing is my favorite thing about the school. It is nice apartment style housing, and I am looking forward to living on campus.
I am not attending there yet so I do not know much about their classes/programs, professors, workload, class size, and all that stuff. I do think they have a good variety of majors, and it is not a huge campus but not that small either.
I will not be attending the school until the fall, so I do not know much about the social atmosphere, clubs, organizations, athletics, or weekend activities. I have seen some of the campus security and I think it is good. They have emergency phones all over the campus with emergency numbers you can call on them.
