I sincerely have enjoyed my time at the University of Kansas so far. The school has incredible spirit and everyone who is apart of this school has so much passion for it. The bus systems for the campus are a great help for anyone trying to get to classes and you can pretty much get on a bus from anywhere in Lawrence.

Academics

Most pre-requisite classes at KU are a fairly large size, some having a thousand students, but many classes require discussion sessions where you meet with about fifteen students from the class and talk with a TA about what is going on in class. It is a great way to answer any question you may not want to ask in front of a thousand other people and it is also a great way to meet other students from your classes. The professors are all willing to help anyone who asks for it. Some classes require more workloads and studying than others but it is nothing extreme. You can truly learn a lot if you put in the effort.

College Life

Lawrence, Kansas is one of the most spirited and friendly places I have ever been. Everyone here is welcoming and friendly and they all have their love for KU in common. We have one of the most prestigious basketball programs in the country and going to one game at Allen Field House is life-changing! There is always something going on in Lawrence whether its an athletic event, Greek event, or even concerts at the Granada. It is always busy in Lawrence no matter what time it is.

As I am a student on the KU Edwards Campus, I have found that the facility there is absolutely amazing! It is very new, and every classroom has new computers and comfortable seats for my 3 hour classes. The teaches I have had so far has been very helpful and friendly, with some having diversified teaching techniques. I love that I can go to school on a Monday night at 7:10pm, with through 3 hours of class, and not be bored one bit. They make it fun, easy, and provide TONS of help. I couldn't be more happier. The location helped me working full time in town while studying for my citizenship exam as well as keeping up with my three siblings who are all in college, not to mention my mother who also works full-time while going to school. They have definitely helped me push through life.

Academics

The classes I have had on campus were all very good. I had some that I liked more than others, and I found myself not being bored in my night classes, which was new to me. Homework was never an issue for me, as I always get my work done on time. I don't really have a choice to procrastinate, as my life is very busy anyways. My classes has never been over 20 people in the class, and I absolutely love that. The teachers know me by name, not by number.

College Life

Since this is a campus in Overland Park, Kansas, this is fairly new and not as many students attend it. However, this is what makes it so attractive and fun. I know I won't be stressed with a bunch of students running around trying to get to class. It creates a more calm environment, which helps me focus. I have just recently found the study abroad program for my Business Administration degree, which I would LOVE to do! I am wanting to get into international business, and this is the perfect opportunity. I am hoping to get some help with finances to make my goals and wishes come true!

I had a great experience as a graduate student because my classes were specific to my degree and faculty/staff were always available to help. However, undergraduate students have much larger lecture classes.

Academics

Workload- easily manageable; professors- accessible; class size- (graduate school) ideal, only 20-30 per class. The classes were easy to manage with a fully enrolled student status- keeping up with reading and homework was easy on a daily basis.

College Life

Lawrence is a great area with lots of college night life. Plenty of bars, shopping, excellent dining and things to do! Kansas City also offers lots of metropolitan area events. On campus, the atmosphere is highly social and interactive. There are so many clubs to join and organizations to connect students.

I love the school, but the cost is insane. KU is very stingy when it comes to giving out scholarships. If you come, make sure to apply to as many private scholarships as possible, and don't expect many from KU.

Academics

I like the classes at Ku. The class sizes are fairly average, and the workload isn't too bad. I love most of my professors, although if you aren't careful you can easily end up with some who aren't that great..

College Life

There are two main nightclubs, the Hawk, and the Cave. The Hawk is a pretty skeezy place, and the Cave is a little more upscale. There are more recreational clubs than you can imagine. Athletics are cool, and basketball is amazing.

I love the school! There is always an activity to join, and people to hang out with. The local atmosphere is great in my opinion, if a bit seedy in some areas do to some crime, but as long as you stick to campus or the main streets it is spectacular. There will be some people hanging around protesting but thats something on every campus. I definetely reccomend getting a map and exploring so you know your way.

Academics

Most first year classes are huge, especially those not in the honors program. This is okay with some professors, but it can be hit or miss with some teachers. Overall my workload wasn't too bad as a freshman and I always had time to do it and could ask questions if I needed help. The honors program has classes that are usually fewer than 20 students which is great.

College Life

The atmosphere is very great and friendly. There are plenty of clubs to join and student government is very active in getting students involved. The safety can be lacking, due to some recent crimes and you have to be a little proactive and careful, but overall the campus is safe and there is a cop around every corner to help you. The Scholarship Hall community I am in is very tight and friendly, providing all sorts of weekly activities. Athletics are great on every level, with intramural sports for everyone to join as well as great school teams. There are plenty of bars, clubs, and concerts locally on the weekends and there is always someone you will know doing something.

Overall, I think KU is a great place to continue developing your mind, whether it's in class, in the libraries, or simply hanging out with friends. The open-minded character of the school is something I really appreciate, and it's reflected in the attitudes of its students. My favorite part is probably the view from the top of Daisy Hill. Looking out on the campus is inspiring.

Academics

Classes definitely vary based on which ones you choose. General education classes are taught in huge lecture halls, but almost always include a discussion or lab section when you can get more personalized help and interact with a small group. The medical program at KU is probably the most notable program, and from what I've seen it looks fantastic. So many great professionals come out of that program, and many come back to KU as professors to guide the next generation through. Teachers at KU vary, of course, but overall I've had good experiences with them.

College Life

Students at KU love to have fun, but they definitely know how to strike a balance between work and play. There are so many activities to do here, including my favorite, going down to the student Rec center and working out on the machines. There are clubs for every interest, and if you can't find yours, they make it super easy to start your own club! Campus safety is great, we have two different transportation systems at night: SafeBus and SafeTransit (which is like a free taxi ride). I love watching KU athletics progress here; even with our great basketball team aside there are so many other sports' games to see!

Overall

KU has a beautiful campus, very welcoming transfer student orientation and helpful professors and staff. As a transfer student, I was at a slight disadvantage to the average college experience at KU, but I made myself comfortable quickly at KU. As long as you get involved in some way, it is easy to be an active member on campus. The small-town community is great for a college town, but the number of students is also large enough to allow everyone to find their own niche.

Academics

For the most part, classes were an appropriate size and teachers were focused and generally very helpful. The workload was fairly easy for me having come from a private University with trimester system, which was definitely more intensive. I have learned a lot and have made some special connections with a few professors.

College Life

Ku is known for its basketball, which is probably the most exciting thing about going to Ku. Wiggins is incredible to watch on the court, let alone the sheer excitement of just being at Allen Fieldhouse. The research groups are easy to get involved in and give students exposure to conducting research and learning how to prepare for graduate school.

The University of Kansas is everything I thought college would be when I thought about it as a child. The historic buildings, engaging professors, and outstanding town of Lawrence has made my experience at the University spectacular. As an incoming freshman, it is important to understand that you will be challenged much more than you were in high school. That being said, KU provides each and every student with various tools and resources for success. So, take advantage of everything KU has to offer and have some fun while you're at it.

Academics

Students are expected to take on five classes per semester in order to graduate in four years. Therefore, the workload is somewhat heavy. However, there are various tutor programs, help rooms, and office hours with professors to help a student succeed. Class sizes range from small to large. Basic entry level classes such as Biology 101 are on the larger side of the spectrum, while classes that pertain more to a narrowed topic are smaller. Professors at KU are always accessible though! They want you to do well and make sure you know that.

College Life

Athletics at KU are, for lack of a better word, fun! The KU Men's Basketball team is nationally a highly ranked athletic organization that electrifies Lawrence, Kansas. I lived in this town before I was a student at KU and still felt the excitement from the hill during every game. Massachusetts St. is the heart of downtown and houses countless restaurants, local shops, and bars. As a woman, I have never felt threatened on campus or in the town of Lawrence as a whole. It is a very warm, welcoming, and safe feeling place to be.

Overall

The University of Kansas is located in a college town and happens to be within forty minutes of two of the largest cities in the Midwest. Therefore, Kansas has small town charm with opportunities to get into big cities quickly. Lawrence, where the University is located, has a wonderful downtown area with many shops, restaurants, and bar life. It is an excellent scene for someone in their early 20s.

Academics

Overall, I love my program. The program offers a wide array of wonderful classes and advancement in the field. I feel I am getting excellent academic and outside opportunities to help me in my future endeavors. The classes are usually under fifteen students and are completely applicable to the program in an intimate, well structured way.

College Life

Kansas has one of the best basketball programs in the country, as well as many other excellent athletics. The Greek is large and bustling. There are plenty of opportunities for new students to fit in with a plethora of unique and engaging organizations and clubs.

So far, courtside basketball tickets! That was an amazing 1st college game experience. Anyone visiting the campus should go to a game and they will leave wanting to be a Jay Hawk! I also enjoy the campus feel. It is large and there is something here for everyone.

Academics

Classes and professors are great. I wish there was a little more guidance for registration. Registration for 2nd semester was a little overwhelming for me. For example, my appointment with advisor was after registration date, so I felt like if I waited I would miss out on some classes, but I didn't really know what to register for.

College Life

The atmosphere I think is exactly what I expected from college. Plenty to do, but able to remain focused a well. The local dining is fun, and accommodates student life. They have affordable specials and encourage students to hang out and enjoy the games.
