While the school is small and friendly, the student life is lively, providing entertainment and performance opportunities as well as recreational, academic and other activities. Academic degrees are awarded through such departments as:

  • Applied Sciences
  • Humanities
  • Natural Sciences
  • Social Sciences

Firelands also grants professional degrees and certificates in medical and other fields. Examples of Firelands’ professional majors include:

  • Bookkeeping
  • Business Management
  • Nursing
  • Radiologic Technology

Most BG Fireland classes are comprised of about 20 students, so that students get a friendly and personalized education.

Outside of class, however, students may enjoy a college life that is similar to that of a larger university. In addition to student special interest, cultural and arts organizations, there are opportunities to perform in school plays and to participate in recreational activities and student government. Students may also attend comedy performances, musical performances, academic lectures and other on-campus events.

Admissions requirements include a copy of transcripts or GED and SAT or ACT scores, along with an application and application fee.

Firelands offers the following need-based financial aid awards:

  • Pell grants
  • FSEOG grants
  • Stafford loans
  • Plus loans

Students may also obtain scholarships from Firelands and from outside organizations. These are based strictly on such factors as academic performance, artistic talent and cultural or religious affiliation.
