U of M is amazing! We have the best all around sports programs in the country and football Saturday's are great. Ann Arbor is a beautiful city and the campus has so much to offer! I loved being away from home and experiencing new things that I would have never done if I stayed closed to home for college.

Academics

Academics are rigorous, but you get out what you put in. Make sure to go to office hours. Most classes are small, although you'll have your share of large lectures of 200+. The workload can get overwhelming at times, but it teaches you how to manage your time.

College Life

Everything is great! So many clubs to choose from. The campus is safe as long as you're always in a lit area in a large group. The off campus nightlife is great, too. There are many theaters, clubs, and places to hang out that are right around campus.

Overall

My most memorable experience was living in the residence halls freshman year. I met my best friends my freshman year. Also I was able to travel the world and the country at Michigan. Interning at Columbia University, and volunteering in Vietnam were experiences that I will treasure all of my life. As a foreign language major I also traveled to Germany. Michigan also has tons of opportunities to do research and I was able to be acknowledged for my work in two academic research papers as well as present twice at academic research forums.

Academics

Science courses would have around 1800 students, but discussion sections would have around 10-15 students. All of my humanities courses had between 15-20 students. I found intro level course to be more challenging because the material was new to me and upper level courses to me more work depending on the professor. All classes have scheduled office hours. There is also a language learning center available and science learning center available to ask questions to graduate student instructors if you find approaching your professor to be intimidating. There are also several course that you can take that will take you outside of the class room. Some are connected to internships, others allow you to travel the US and the globe. For example my best friend took a course on African Art and ended up going to the Smithsonian to see the art up close that they had been studying all semester. Another example would be a sociology course I took that had us volunteering in the University of Michigan Hospital and keeping journal entries on our experiences.

College Life

We have the best student life hands down of any university. You name we had it to squirrel feeding club to quiditch club! From the moment you have orientation to you will be practicing our fight song! Athletics is huge at our university. If you want to be apart of a team or start your own in any sport Michigan has it. There is nothing like walking in to Michigan Football Stadium on game day. If sports is't your thing there are over a 1,000 clubs and organizations to join in be apart of. We have one of the most active and proud Greek system in the country as well. Safety is also really high on campus. Surrounded by Ann Arbor, we have both Ann Arbor Police, and the Department of Public Safety available to us 24/7.

My time at the University of Michigan was definitely the best time of my life. There is so much diversity at University of Michigan. The culture is amazing! The facilities are first-rate, the professors are well-renowed, the research facilities are top-notch, the campus life is awesome AND Ann Arbor is the best college town in the Country! My most memorable experiences at the University of Michigan are the football games at the Big House (GO BLUE!) where everyone from all walks of life (~110,000 people!) would walk together with maize and blue on to attend the home games. Equally as memorable are the academic experiences that I had where I had the opportunity to develop real-world solution to real-world issues and present ideas to my classmates and have the opportunity to learn from them.

Academics

The MBA program at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan is one of the best in the world. Unlike any other business school in the world, Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan gives you the opportunity to engage in a real-world global 7-week project during 1st year in the MBA program (the program is called MAP Program). For my MAP, I had the opportunity to go to India and provide marketing and sales consulting to a real working non-profit organization in Hyderabad, India. This one in a life time opportunity was presented by the University of Michigan and armed me with the strategic and problem solving skill sets to be successful in my current every day career...

College Life

The social atmosphere at University of Michigan is the BEST in the country. From the amazing football and basketball tailgating events to the Hill House parties, to the wonderful restaurants on main street, it is guaranteed that everyone that steps foot on the University of Michigan's campus, whether it be for undergraduate or graduate programs, will surely have the best time of their lives. I surely did! In fact, I enjoyed it so much, that I just flew in to Ann Arbor (on my own personal time) to attend a tailgating event as a alumna. GO BLUE!

No better place to go to college than Ann Arbor, Michigan. Not only is the University of Michigan a great school with excellent academics, but the town itself is a great place to live. Plus, you get to go to games in the Big House with 112,000 other fans. Beat that, other schools. You can't!

Academics

Academics are one of U of M's big strengths. Classes are plenty challenging, and there are programs in just about any subject you can think of. I even took a class on video games and digital media, which I haven't heard of anyone taking at another school.

College Life

Michigan athletics are a huge part of being on campus, considering we have the largest football stadium in college sports. There are plenty of clubs too, and the on-campus facilities like the Union and League are great. Be sure to check out Pizza House, China Gate and Big Ten Burrito for food, and Ashley's and Dominic's for drinks.

The college experience in Ann Arbor is amazing. Not only does it have great academics, but it has the added benefit of great sports and a great party scene. Those who think Michigan State is the best party school in the state have clearly not spent enough time in Ann Arbor. It also has the added benefit of being a pretty small campus that you can live on for 4 years without needing a car.

Academics

The beauty of the school is that you can take classes with hundreds of students, but you can also get a smaller school atmosphere in classes with only 20 students. It offers a great variety with some great professors. While I was there, the math department could have used a little work, as the teachers were great mathematicians, but not very good at actually teaching the math. Hopefully that has improved.

College Life

I didn't get involved with Greek life and while some loved it, it was not at all necessary to be Greek to have a social life. There is a club for just about anything you can imagine and it is pretty easy to get caught up in the great atmosphere. Go Blue!

It was a great mix of social life, sports/school spirit and academics. Everyone knew how to have fun but they also were serious about classes and learning. I met some really fun and really smart people there who are now lifelong friends. The school spirit is unrivaled, and on gameday, the whole school is transformed. It's really cool to be a part of.

Academics

Great professors and insane variety of classes. There is also a lot of flexibility in the classes you take, which is great. Engineering is particularly strong, although it's on north campus which can be a little bit of a pain to get to. I learned a lot there, but like a lot of things, it depends on what you put into it.

College Life

Greek life is important part of social life there because it can make such a big school seem much smaller. Back in my day, there were only three bars on campus, and you didn't go there until you were a senior. People tend to live in fraternity/sorority houses sophomore/junior year and then off-campus houses/apartments junior/senior year.

I was an out-of-stater who was drawn to the big state school culture of U of M. Michigan did not let me down. Amazing game days, phenomenal Greek scene and lots of diversity. Plus, I'm a major foodie who found that there was plenty of awesome dining options on and off campus.

Academics

The professors were fantastic. I would recommend asking alums who the "famous" teachers are and fighting to get into their classes. My Shakespeare class is one of those courses that still comes up in stories, years after I graduated. Michigan's stellar academic reputation also made it fairly easy to find a job after graduation.

College Life

It was easy to get involved with a multitude of different things. I was active part of my fraternity leadership, had roles in several theatrical productions, and still had time to participate in intramurals and other extra-curricular activities. Going to games at the Big House and at the Yost Field House were also unforgettable parts of student life.
