Student Ratings
Nina Douglas Alumnus - Grad Year 2009
Overall, very flexible scheduled lectures with knowledgeable professors and small discussion sections that are more small group or one-one-one oriented. This school is known for its sciences and engineering departments as well as its arts department. It has one of the most top Astrophysics and Mechanical Engineering departments in California.
Caitlin Frazer Alumnus - Grad Year 2011
The sciences are definitely what UCSC specializes in, and it is a research facility as well, but other majors definitely have classes that are very solid with great professors. One thing that was a disadvantage, and this is most likely the case at all schools, is that some of the professors who are tenured and/or are about to retire really do not put much effort in. The classes are also pretty large, about 100-200 people on average. The workload, if kept up with, is completely manageable.
