About United Theological Seminary

If you want to help renew the church for its ministry and mission of Jesus Christ, you should consider the United Theological Seminary (UTS) in Dayton, Ohio, an institution dedicated to teaching the Bible and instilling personal and social holiness.

Although the seminary is affiliated with the United Methodist Church, it welcomes students from several denominations, including Presbyterians, Lutherans, Roman Catholics and those of the Pentecostal tradition.

Unique to the UTS is its 78-hour Master of Divinity program. It is designed to provide students with the education and training they need to enter the ministry without being kept in due to additional academic requirements.

Other academics offered at the seminary include master’s and doctoral degrees in ministerial fields like Christian Ministries and Theological Studies.

Student life at the seminary is inclusive, personal and close-knit. The bond among students is strengthened by the seminary’s emphasis on communal worship, dining, ministry groups and being active in social or community events. Whether you want to join the Sacristans, Young Adult Seminarians Network or one of the school’s many music ministries, you’ll be able to explore your interests while bonding with other students.

Students interested in applying must complete a Quick App and send in supplemental mail-in forms. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of growing faith and hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution. The admissions department also performs mandatory background checks on all degree –seeking students.

To help reduce the cost of tuition for eligible students, the seminary offers financial aid through United Methodist student loans, scholarships, federal grants and denominational assistance.
