Overall

Overall, Southern Polytechnic State University is the place for me to be. Its diverse student and staff population provides opportunities to learn about other cultures in ways that can't be taught in a classroom. The most memorable experience that I have had so far here at SPSU has to be the Annual Pumpkin Launch contest. At a lot of other schools, the students mostly party and eat candy. Here, there are a host of events that accommodate people who aren't the typical party goers and I love every minute of it!

Academics

Southern Polytechnic is known as Georgia's Technology Institute. SPSU is a polytechnic university. The word polytechnic derives from the Greek word poly, meaning many, and the word techne, meaning applied skills. The degree programs offered here are based on theoretical understanding and applied skills. The small teacher to student ratio and hands on curriculum makes the rigorous workload more manageable. Here, we can successfully study the sciences and technologies in a unique, practical manner that provides an education that is career-based and balanced.

College Life

Housing and Residence, along with the Campus Activities Board, makes sure that there is always something to do on campus. There are weekly events such as movie night, game night, ice cream socials, a variety of contests, etc. These events allow residents to come out, meet new people, and have fun. There are events during the day to accommodate commuters, and just as many events in the evening for the residents as well. Whether there is an event happening or not, we can always count on SPSU Police to be present and aware. It is understood that their job is not to intimidate us, but to protect us. For this, they are greatly appreciated.

Overall

I like the culture of the architecture programs and the professors. The campus itself is beautiful also. The most memorable experiences I have had is in my architecture studio class middle of night no sleep and throwing tacks into the walls for fun. Also we play ping pong for breaks on studying. My other best memories are playing pool for 8 hrs straight in the awesome game room during summer workshop.

Academics

Our class sizes usually are medium except honors are smaller. The workload is alot and the curriculum was ranked among the top 16 hardest in the nation.

College Life

There's lots and lots of clubs and organizations to get into and there is always something to do on campus.
