About MIIS
The Monterey Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California, is an academic community dedicated to producing professionals who are leaders in cross-cultural, multilingual environments.
To promote multicultural and ideological exchange, the school has many student clubs and organizations like the Campus Christian Fellowship, Chinese Student Association, Middle East Society and many more. No matter your background, there’s a group for you.
Student life in Monterey offers many exciting outdoor and recreational activities like hiking, biking and kayaking and an active arts scene with many arts, music and film festivals held throughout the year. The Del Monte Shopping Center is also nearby, as well as the Big Sur coastline. Many restaurants and independent shops surround the campus.
Academics include graduate degrees with an international focus. Programs emphasize critical issues in fields like Business, Terrorism Studies, Human Rights, Conflict Resolution and more.
Admissions require students to demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language, whether you’re a native or non-native English speaker. To assess program candidates, the school examines both past academic records and professional experience. Students must submit official transcripts, recommendations, language proficiency assessments and a statement of purpose.
Merit-based scholarships ranging from $4,000 to $16,000 are available to eligible students who have completed a FAFSA. Other financial aid options include federal grants, work-study programs and loans.
