Overall

UW-Platteville was my first college choice, and I could not see myself at any other college. I have had so many great experiences this past semester. Unfortunately, I am not very good at making friends, so the beginning of the year was a little rough. But once I finally found the right group of friends, college no longer seemed overwhelming and lonely. I was able to maintain a balance between my school work and my social life. College became enjoyable. I am looking forward to my next semester of college. My tip for prospective students would be to find that right group of friends because they will make their college experiences worth remembering. Everyone will find the right friends sooner or later. I took me two and a half months to find my friends. So to anyone who is having trouble finding friends, do not give up.

Academics

UW-Platteville is a smaller school. I had originally applied for UW-Platteville as a criminal justice major, but switched to an elementary education major the summer before. I was glad that UW-Platteville had an education program because that meant I did not have to find a different school. I have been impressed with the education courses, considering it is not the largest selected major at UW-Platteville. Most of my classes, last semester, had an average class size of approximately thirty students. The smaller class sizes allow for a more personal relationship with each professor, which makes receiving help more doable. The professors, too, are able to reach out to the students more often. The workload was not anything that I could not handle. There were times when I felt very stressed, but that was not surprise to me. College is meant to be challenging. Keeping organized helps when many large assignments are due at the same time. Not only that, but keeping a positive attitude helped me relieve some stress throughout the year. All of the hard work paid off because I ended up with A's in every class. I am ready to take on the next semester.

College Life

UW- Platteville has many great organizations and activities that go on throughout the semester. They are great ways to meet friends and take a break from the workload from school. Being able to maintain a healthy balance between school and my social life has made college very enjoyable. I attend the youth group, InterVarsity. From that, I have gained my true friends, who are also great role models for me. We have good, clean fun everyday. Playing board games, card games, watching movies, going to meals together, and playing sports are just a few activities that we enjoy doing together. This past semester, I also participated in intramural volleyball. That has helped me learn the value of teamwork and communication. Playing sports and staying active is important to me. I will be looking forward to participating in more intramural sports. When it comes to campus safety, I feel quite safe when I am walking alone from one place to another. If it is at night, I try to find someone else to walk with me. There are many friendly people who are willing to do that. I am very happy with where my college life stands right now. I am determined to make next semester even better than the previous semester, both academically and socially.
