Reviews for Smith College
Smith has Praxis, a program where each student receives money from Smith for an unpaid summer internship. Domestic internships receive $2,400 and international internships receive $3,500. There are incredible professors, and I've had professors who will write me a recommendation even with only 4 days notice. I've been over to professor's houses before. The professor student relationships are what you make of it. Women's schools are great. Unfortunately, there is little to no Republican presence on campus, and for Smith students being so open-minded in other aspects, some extreme liberal students consider Republican's political opinions to be invalid; the campus is not very Republican friendly.
I have found the environment to be academically stimulating. There are plentiful and incredible research opportunities. Students are also very proud of Smith and of being smart. This is so important to me! Hardworking community. Professors accessible and kind, amazing new college president. Students do not compare grades, but compete by emphasizing stress levels. I have not personally found this to be a problem, and consider Smith to be less stressful than my high school; the school work here is intense but all fulfilling. Smith students are heady, passionate, and value inclusivity especially in social justice realms.
Very inclusive environment, part of the 5 college consortium, can take free bus to go to any of the other schools, can go to parties at other schools, incredible alumni and career resources, very safe and open campus, fun to go into town, strong emphasis on social justice, very liberal, intellectual conversations over lunch are common, gorgeous dorms.
