Programs that promote the advancement of women into traditionally male occupations, courses for senior citizens, short-term training and traditional career programs are all offered at Scott Community College in Davenport, Iowa.
Consisting of two separate centers located in different parts of the city, Scott Community College provides professional training programs in fields as distinctly different as Accounting, Aviation, Dental Assisting, Fire Service Technology, Horse Science, Horticulture, Nursing and Welding.
For those who are not able to invest the one to two years it takes to complete one of these programs, there are also short-term professional certifications offered in healthcare, industry and other fields.
For seniors who would like to cultivate a new interest or revive a new one there are a number of academic, special interest and physical fitness classes in everything from Gardening to Sculpture to History.
Student activities also run the gamut of interest areas including eveyrhting from a Christian Fellowship Club to a German-American Club to organizations for those interested in Interior Design or the Environment.
Admission requirements vary depending on the program and degree one is pursuing.
Tuition is substantially lower for Iowa state residents. Financial aid is available to qualifying students.
