College Life Rating

There is a club for almost everything already, and if you can't find one then it is extremely easy to make your own. If you want to party, then collegetown is always buzzing with life, and then if you just want to stay in there are pool/ping pong tables, movie theaters, the mall, etc. The people here are friendly and welcome intelligent conversation, but are never afraid to goof off and have fun.

Alumnus - Grad Year 1999

College Life Rating

Greek life is definitely a major force at Cornell, however, there is little pressure to join if it's not your thing, With a very diverse group of 13,000 undergrads, 6,000 grads, as well as students from nearby Ithaca College, everybody is bound to meet a large group of like minded friends to spend their time in Ithaca with. There really is something for everyone, no matter what you're into. Even the most niche interests like organic farming, Young Republicans or even medieval reenactment all seemed to have a strong community at Cornell. Freshman year, nearly everyone lives in the dorms. After that, most people move off campus with their friends. It really doesn't matter if you have a car, but if you do bring one, be prepared to play chauffeur to your friends on snow days.
