Overall

This is a very hard core academic school. You should not attend if you plan on watching football games and showing school pride for your basketball team. That being said, if can survive all the school work and testing, everything will be downhill from there.

Academics

Workload is rater extreme. Typically 3 to 5 homework sets per week for around an 11 week quarter. The homework sets take the entire night to finish. Class sizes are at maximum 200 and minimum of 1 or 2.

College Life

Most all students live in on campus the first year and are associated to one of 7 houses that are a cross between a dorm and a frat house. Most students are too busy with schoolwork to participate much in clubs or social activities.

Overall

Caltech is very small, with an undergraduate class not much more than 200 per year. This means you get to know your classmates very well and you become part of a community instead of just a statistic. You won't find a superior school for engineering and technology - the research is world class and even undergraduates are strongly encouraged to get involved.

Academics

The science and engineering classes are the primary focus, though there are other good programs like economics and even philosophy. The classes are small so it is almost always possible to get one-on-one time with the professors. The workload is probably heavier than any other undergraduate program in the world, so expect to spend most of your time on course-work rather than partying.

College Life

There are tons of clubs to get involved in, though honestly there isn't a ton of time to spend with them. The athletics program is very small but tight-knit. Caltech doesn't do any recruiting for athletes so you if you do play sports it is as a true student-athlete. The basketball team has been chronicled many times for its amazing losing streaks, as seen in the movie Quantum Hoops.

Overall

Loved the experience despite how challenging it was. Academics are unimaginably hard. Unique house traditions and honor code system. Made lifelong friendships. Opens lots of doors.

Academics

Some of the most rigorous curriculum for all students. World reknowned professors, many of them being nobel laureates very approachable lots of opportunities to do research as an undergrad and get paid for it very humbling to study among such smart students

College Life

very supportive administration in my time. not very good athletic dept but supportive of students' participation many students are a little awkward socially, but you find your niche of like-minded friends weekends are spent recovering from the studying parties are the most elaborate
