Reviews for Northern Kentucky University
Overall, I love NKU. I hate the math department- but as I'm a psychology major that's not really a huge concern. I love my professors and their class lessons. My advisor has been very helpful in helping me design a class plan and curriculum that will aid me in getting into grad school. I feel like I've learned a lot, and have experienced much personal growth. The school is great, the people are great. The campus is very pretty in the spring and summer. The most memorable experience, so far, has been sorority recruitment last fall. It was so exciting, and I found my sisters in Theta Phi Alpha. I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. I am looking forward to three more great years at NKU before applying to grad schools to pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.
Classes are small and welcoming. Most professors are entertaining and hold many classroom discussions vs. straight lectures. Work load varies from class to class but I have yet to enroll in any class that has been a terrible amount of work. There's a lot of reading, but that's to be expected with any psychology major. When fulfilling your gen ed requirements, be sure to take Professor Eric Bates, ANT 230, into to native north americans. Even if this isn't something you're very interested in, you have to fulfill your gen eds somehow and this professor is amazing- and you only have to take two very light tests and write a paper with presentation. Very fun class. Awesome professor.
The student union is always busy with some kind of activity, and has a very fun atmosphere. Wonderful Greek life, very fun, caring and just amazing sisters and brothers. There's always a show to see, preformed by NKU's own theatre department. Its just a great place to be!
