I believe LACC is a very good community college. My experience with the staff was very warm and they seem to be extremely helpful with any concerns I have. The school is very affordable and convenient and the class schedules allow me to work and Persue my career.

Academics

LACC has a variety of courses students can sellect from according to the area of study they want to advance in. They also have a counseling department to help prepare students in choosing the right academic classes they would need to complete their education.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The school's atmosphere is very warm and comfortable to dwell and learn. There facilities for example, the computer lab, the staff is always available with answers and concerns students may have. They have a police station on site for student safety.

Overall

I took 6 classes here last semester and I was blown away by this community college. First of all, the film department is excellent. They have some equipment in the more advanced classes that even some super-high priced specialty schools around here don't boast of having. The teachers are extremely knowledgeable and patient, and the quality of work being produced by the more advanced classes is pretty mind-boggling. Quite a few names in the film industry have gotten their start here, on the cheap!!

Academics

My one real issue is with the acting department, which is a conservatory within the community college that you must audition for...due to budget cuts, you can't just take any intermediate acting or theater courses unless you've auditioned for the program, and are enrolled full-time, plus working on the play in the evening. It's unfortunate, as the department recently had a production that was one of just three college plays chosen to performed at Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival national event. The teachers that I had were truthfully all excellent, patient and very encouraging. Some of them handled quite large classes with deceptive ease...Particularly in the film department, I found my teachers had an impressive amount of real-world experience.

Campus Facilities & Safety

I love LACC because the students are one of the most diverse and friendly groups I've ever had the pleasure to be a part of. Yes, there are people at all levels of education here, but I met brilliant people in every department, working right alongside beginners...Also, because a lot of the students are adults with various careers, many of them bring a real-world determination and grit to the classes.

Los Angeles City College is a great school for both young adults just getting out of high school and working adults who want to return to school and improve their lives. The flexibility of the class schedules is excellent. This school offers many courses and transfer availablility to Universities. With both online and campus classes, it allows you the flexibility you need to whichever lifestyle you live. I love the campus, it has a warm firendly vibe to it. I definitely recommend this school for anyone, it's a great experience.

Los Angeles City College is a great school to go to for young adults just coming out of high school or older adults looking to better the quality of their lives. It has every course and academic field you need whether you are transferring, getting an associate's or even a certificate. Great School!!!

Academics

This college provides flexibility for pretty much all of their courses. Whether you need to attend classes in the day, evening or also online. The professors I have encountered are very helpful and patient. The class sizes will vary, but most of the professors ensure that all of the students are taken care of.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The atmosphere of the campus itself is an inviting warm atmosphere. Most of the students that attend are laid back respectful people. It is the kind of atmosphere that keeps you in a good motivated mood.

Overall

Los Angeles City College is a large community college in the center of Los Angeles. It is a relatively big campus and there is a large, diverse student body. There are lots of courses to choose from with a giant course catalog and many courses are available online. LACC provides the maximum flexibility for a working student and has a lot of information including application and financial aid online. There are students of all ages and is a great affordable choice to kick off your first 2 years of school before transferring since most credits are transferable. The atmosphere is also very friendly for working students.

Academics

Classes usually are small, less than 40 students, unless it is a lecture hall class. Professors are typically teachers who also work full time or part time and so have a lot of practical experience to share with students. Given the large size of the campus, there is a broad variety of classes to choose from and you can typically find any level and any subject you are looking for. During my time there I took general education classes that ranged from Business 101 and Art History 101 to Eastern Philosophy and Calculus.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The campus is located in a busy part of east Los Angeles. Streets are usually filled with lots of people, but given the location of the school you should probably use the buddy system to walk to one of the far away parking structures. On campus is relatively safe just given the amount of people around. There are a lot of clubs available, a lot of athletics, and an active Student Government.

I attended the Los Angeles City College Theatre Academy. It is a wonderful conservatory program. You're there 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday. The staff is very passionate and well versed in all things theatre. If you can spare the time I'd definitely look into this school.

Academics

This a great alternative to a huge school. the classes are personal and everyone is able to be cast in every production. From scene shop to make up to acting the program has great classes in each area of study. The training can be intense but it indeed rewarding.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The campus is currently under renovation. The bookstore is small and the on campus coffee shop is expensive. There is always the on campus lunch truck for those on a budget. The campus is safe but alike every campus, its better to travel with a buddy if you're outside late at night.

Overall

I took a couple of GE classes at LACC that I needed to transfer to a 4 year college. They offered all the classes I needed at the times I wanted, which helped a lot because I was also working at the time.

Academics

I really liked the professors at LACC because I felt that they genuinely wanted to help the students reach their academic potential. They were very accessible and helpful. The classes usually filled up quickly but I didn't find a problem being able to add the classes.

Campus Facilities & Safety

The atmosphere of the campus is relatively laid back. Most of the students who attend LACC want to just take their classes and go home, I didn't feel like there was much of a social scene. I am sure there are organizations that students could join, but I didn't take too much time looking into them.
