Academics Rating

Freshmen courses at UT are rigorous and just simply huge. Of course, everything depends on what you study. However, everyone has very similar cores to complete and that includes 50,000 + other students. Therefore, as undergrads, please keep in mind that your professors will have TAs and they will most likely not know your name. You will be in a class of 200 or more and your tests will be mass graded. As such, keep up with your deadlines and speed of the course, you are very much on your own. As you progress through your studies, you will learn that your classes slowly shrink, workload increases, and professors learn your name. If you want that close professor-student relationship, then you have to cultivate it yourself by going to office hours. GO TO OFFICE HOURS! I can not stress that enough- it helps everyone involved. In terms of graduate school, your classes are smaller (40) and you have a huge workload and great professors that are there for you if you want them to be. They tend to learn your names so its a great way to talk to someone whos actually been in the industry and help guide you down the right track and courses. They are great courses that are 100% applicable to your professional life.
