Overall

The College of Saint Rose was a great experience academically. As a commuter, I found that there were less resources for networking with students available and the parking was horrible! I understand that the parking situation has since improved with the construction of a parking garage and expanded parking lots. I valued the technology and equipment available for students use. I majored in Environmental Affairs and found that the resources and courses available in the sciences well surpassed other schools I'd attended. The professors were knowledgeable and generally very helpful and available, the main campus was nice and modern. The academics were challenging and rewarding .

Academics

One of the best things about the College of Saint Rose was the class sizes. Even 101 lectures for courses like Biology or Chemistry were relatively small with perhaps 60 students in a class. Labs were small with 15 students and other classes almost never had more than 20 or 25 students in them. I felt that this allowed professors to teach at a better pace and really take the time in class to answer questions and have meaningful discussions about the material. The workload was reasonable, even when taking more than 12 credits. Exams were well spaced throughout the semester and were fair. I felt the professors were more than willing to help in any way they could and they were passionate about their work.

College Life

The college had many different student activities and events. I especially liked the different guests that would come in the lecture about different things. There were many sporting events that took place throughout the year and the college was well represented at them. Campus security has improved, but, the campus is located in the city of Albany and is an open campus with some buildings spread far apart and with many students living off campus. I didn't always feel comfortable walking to my car in the evening, unless I was able to park on campus.
