Overall
An up and comming schcool, located in the best part of Norfolk, football games are fun. The Campus is very nice, I enjoyed time between classes. A lot of student's ride skateboards to class or play lacrosse in the large field in front of the student union.
Academics
The computer science curriculum is hard unless you have a huge background going in. Although the school is relatively easy to get in to do not be fooled many people do not graduate. One benefit of the school is that they let you retake up to five classes and replace the grades. Some of my professors are hard.
College Life
There is plenty to do you just have to get out and do it. I feel safe most of the time being in a city. When I moved into a house right outside of campus the Campus police greeted me and welcome me to the community, he was at the house next door having his picture made with a life-size cutout of the Dos Equis Man. The school is close to Virgnia Beach.

I am really happy with my choice to attend Old Dominion University. It has unlimited resources for students and they are easy to utilize as long as you seek them out. The Old Dominion website should be your best friend.
Academics
Class sizes vary from 30 to 300. It depends on the class that you take. Labs are much smaller classes since they are hands on. Old Dominion is most known for their great Engineering programs. They do also have a wonderful Marine Biology program as well as many more.
College Life
There is an abundance of clubs, organizations and activites to choose from. And if you can't find a group that interests you specifically, you can start one. Campus safety is pretty reliable, it's the outer area that isn't the best.

Overall
Old Dominion University is a great school for many reasons. It is excellent academically while still having a vibrant social scene. Its location right next to downtown Norfolk means that nothing is too far away and there's always something to do. Its close proximity to Virginia Beach means that a nice vacation is only twenty minutes away.
Academics
Old Dominion University offers many great majors with excellent and specialized professors teaching each subject. As a Teacher Prep major, the workload has always been nicely balanced for me, with enough work to keep me busy but not so much that I ever feel too overwhelmed.
College Life
ODU has an excellent social scene. With blocks and blocks of off campus student housing, there are always lots of parties on the weekends. There are a few different clubs and bars in the area, but there are also plenty of things to do on campus. For example, the Webb Student Center hosts lots of activities constantly, from mini concerts to tie dyeing to holiday celebrations. The university has been working hard on improving its security, adding a new Top Guard team this year that patrols the campus constantly.
