Like many liberal arts college, scholarship is Kalamazoo College (Kzoo)’s main focus. However, Kzoo also emphasizes engagement globally and in the community. As such, studying abroad, community service and sustainability are crucial components of student life at Kzoo, in addition to the college’s many clubs and organizations.
Kalamazoo College’s academics are based on the “K-Plan,” which stresses communication, multiculturalism, and interdisciplinary study in the context of the liberal arts. The college offers more than 30 majors in fields as diverse as Media Studies, International Studies and Human Development & Social Relations.
Admissions at Kalamazoo are highly selective. If you’re artistically inclined, you can increase your chances of acceptance by submitting a portfolio of your work. Whether your skills lie in music, theatre, writing or the visual arts, K College wants to know about them.
Kalamzoo offers financial aid based on both merit and need. All incoming students are automatically considered for merit-based aid, based on standardized test scores and high school GPA. (The exceptions to this are the Enlightened Leadership Awards, which require a separate application.) To apply for need-based aid, submit the FAFSA and Kalamazoo College Financial Aid Form by February 15.
