BPACE Description

Baldwin Park Adult and Community Education Division (BPACE) has received several awards from the California Department of Education for its innovative and exemplary adult education programs.

BPACE offers Basic Adult Education courses in GED preparation and ESL. They also provide career certifications in medical, automotive, industrial and personal services fields.

Unique to BPACE’s curriculum are the opportunities they offer students to work hands-on, with the public, in their field of study. The Maine Street Café, for example, is the training ground for those studying to work in the food service industry. From preparing food to waiting tables and washing dishes, participation in The Maine Street Café helps students to learn all aspects of food service.

BPACE also runs a salon to give cosmetology students the opportunity to practice their craft. Through styling hair, designing nails, giving facials or applying make-up, students practice all areas of cosmetology.

BPACE’s partnerships with local businesses also give students the chance to engage in internships or job-based learning opportunities.

BPACE also has a program for older students, which also received awards of excellence from the state. Whether it’s health and fitness, fine arts or technology, BPACE’s Older Adults program helps to meet the personal and educational needs of senior citizens.

Students with the financial need may receive financial assistance through grants. Other forms of aid, such as loans, may be available as well to those who qualify.
