UNCP Description
With more than 5,000, but fewer than 10,000 students, University of North Carolina in Pembroke is just large enough for students to feel like they’re at a real university but still small enough to be manageable.
This is reflected in the academic offerings. With more than 40 bachelor’s degrees and more than 15 master’s degrees offered in the Arts and Sciences, Education, Business and Human Services, the choices are substantial but not overwhelming.
Some of UNC’s Pembroke’s undergraduate and graduate majors include:
- Art
- Elementary Education
- Environmental Science
- Foreign Languages
- Music Education
- Public Administration
- Social Work
- Theatre Arts
- Zoology
Student life also offers just enough choices to meet the varied interests of its students. There are more than 60 special interest, religious and service organizations, student dance, music and theatre groups, a student-run newspaper and radio station, and a recreation center.
Admissions are on a rolling basis, which means that students may apply at anytime. However, there is also an undergradate admission deadline of July 31st for those who wish to enter in the fall.
In addition to an application and an application fee, students will need to submit transcripts, SAT or ACT scores and a questionnaire filled out by an instructor or counselor at their previous school.
Scholarships include those awarded for strong academic performance and a scholarship for Native Americans. Students may also apply for such federal aid sources as grants, work-study and loans by filling out a FAFSA. There is also a grant available for those who plan to teach as well as tuition benefits for veterans. Tuition payment plans are offered as well.
