USAFA Description
One of the most prestigious and competitive colleges in the U.S., The United States Air Force Academy provides rigorous academic and military training, and the valued ideals of discipline and fortitude as well.Often ranked by numerous publications as one of the top ten or even top five post-secondary institutions, the academy is a training ground for future air force commandants.
The U.S. Air Force Academy requires that all students undertake a core curriculum consisting of arts, sciences and humanities.
Students then choose a major area of study, such as Engineering or Natural or Social Sciences, which leads to a bachelor’s degree.
In addition to the academic requirements, cadets must also undergo intensive physical training through numerous athletic pursuits, physical education and intramural training.
A highly competitive school with rigid admissions standards, The U.S. Air Force Academy requires more than just an excellent academic record from prospective students. Those who wish to attend the academy must also display the commitment, strength of character, morality and discipline to enter the program. Prospective cadets must also pass a fitness test prior to being admitted.
Scholarships and other forms of financial aid are available to cover the cost of tuition for those who qualify.
