SUBR Description
Approximately 60 undergraduate and 30 graduate degrees with options to specialize are offered at Southern University and A & M College in Baton Rouge (SUBR).
A historically black college (HBCU) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Southern University and A & M College offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.
Majors available within certain fields or subject areas are highly specific. For example, a student may earn a degree in a field as focused as Apparel Merchandising, Urban Forestry, Music Education, Broadcasting or Therapeutic Recreation.
Southern University students may also obtain a more general degree in such fields as English, Psychology, Social Work or Architecture.
With half of the undergraduate population residing on campus in dorms or apartment-style units, Southern University also provides a lively campus life including sports, recreational and club activities. Its marching band, in fact, is known nationally and has performed at the Super Bowl and the annual Rose Bowl parade in Pasadena, CA.
Career services at SUBR include career counseling and access to internship opportunities
Financial aid for eligible undergraduates includes academic scholarships, grants, loans and work-study. Graduate students who qualify may procure scholarships and loans as well as teaching or research assistant-ships.
