School Description
Provided by Atlantic Cape Community College-Mays LandingThe mission of Atlantic Cape Community College is to be Comprehensive, Student-Centered and Accessible.
Since 1973, the College has been the main provider of community college education to Cape May County residents. For many years, Cape May County officials studied ways to bring better higher educational opportunities to its residents.
ACCC offers more than 40 career and transfer degrees and training for many of the nation's hottest careers. Strong career programs mean professional success.
We design our programs to maximize your success. Our class sizes are small, ensuring you will receive plenty of individual attention. Scheduling is flexible, allowing you to work around other commitments.
In July 1995, the N.J. Commission on Higher Education declined the county's request for an independent college and recommended that it enter into a partnership with a neighboring community college, citing such benefits of a joint college as a larger population base, economies of scale, immediate availability and accreditation of curricula, and elimination of duplication of efforts and costs.
Cape May County requested joint proposals which were due in February 1997 and, as a result, on January 1, 1999, ACC officially became a joint college between Atlantic and Cape May counties. The Board of Trustees approved a new name for the joint college: Atlantic Cape Community College (ACCC) in February, 1999.
CMCC opened in August 2005. The new 68,000-square-foot facility features a brick façade and two wings that house an information commons that includes a combination library and computer lab; a 100-seat lecture hall; a full-service cafeteria; and 19 classrooms—including chemistry and biology labs, three academic computer labs, two continuing education computer labs and one distance education classroom. In addition, ACCC provides support services facilities, including counseling, testing, tutoring and financial aid offices as well as administrative offices at the new campus.
ACCC's main campus is situated on U.S. Rt. 322, 5100 Black Horse Pike, Mays Landing, N.J., 08330-2699. The main campus is midway between the Pike's intersection with U.S. Rts. 40 & 50, 2.2 miles west of the Hamilton Mall.
The 537-acre campus consists of an attractive complex of contemporary buildings built around a quadrangle of lawn. The buildings are joined by walkways and a central loop connects buildings and parking areas with the Black Horse Pike.
