Welcome to the largest regional campus of Kent State University. Kent State University Stark was founded in 1946 and has been serving Stark County and the surrounding area for over 60 years. As Stark County's public university, Kent State Stark plays a vital role in generating a more educated workforce, attracting and retaining qualified individuals to the area and contributing to the positive economic development of the region. Kent State Stark is located on 200 beautiful acres in Jackson Township, just five minutes from the Akron-Canton Airport and easily accessible from Interstate-77.
Kent State Stark offers bachelor's, master's and associate degrees. Students can earn bachelor's degrees in applied and organizational communication, applied studies, business management, English, family life education, general studies, history, justice studies, mathematics, middle childhood education, nursing and psychology. In addition, Kent State Stark offers a masters in business administration (M.B.A.) and a M.Ed. or M.A. in curriculum and instruction. Students can also earn an associate degree in arts, justice studies and science. The campus offers the core courses for Kent State's 281 undergraduate majors and programs.
Kent State Stark serves 10,000 students each year, comprised of 5,300 enrolled in academic course work (fall, spring and summer semesters) and 4,700 enrolled in professional and graduate courses. In addition, approximately 200 high school students from the Stark County area take advantage of the Post-Secondary Enrollment Option and other pre-college programs. In 2009, more than 500 students graduated from Kent State Stark.
As of Fall 2008, Kent State Stark has 92 full-time faculty and 128 part-time faculty. 90% of full-time faculty hold a Ph.D. or a terminal degree in their field. All instructors hold at least a masters degree in their teaching field and Kent State Stark does not have graduate assistants teaching classes. The student-faculty ratio is 16-to-1; allowing dedicated professors to work closely with students, helping them achieve success inside the classroom and beyond.
The campus consists of seven major buildings, including Main Hall and East Wing, the Learning Resource Center (Library), Fine Arts Building, Physical Education Facility, Campus Center and The University Center (Professional Education and Conference Center).
