Description

BOCES, or Board of Cooperative Educational Services offer career-training and education programs throughout New York State.

The BOCES Center in Albany offers a program for those who wish to pursue a career in practical nursing, also known as licensed vocational nursing. In this program students receive hands-on training and clinical experience at health care facilities throughout the area.

Albany BOCES has transfer agreements with several nearby colleges for those students who wish to continue with or enhance their nursing studies. Some of the schools with which they have such agreements are Schenectady County Community College and Hudson Valley Community College.

The Practical Nursing program at Albany BOCES takes approximately one to two years to complete. Students who graduate from the program go on to work in hospitals, doctor’s offices, retirement and nursing homes and home health care.

Qualifying students may receive need-based grants, loans and other forms of federal and private financial aid.
