Welcome to Snow College! We are located 120 miles south of Salt Lake City, Utah, in the beautiful Sanpete Valley. Our institution was founded in 1888 as an academy for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We operated under the direction of the L.D.S. First Presidency until 1932 when we became a state institution.
As a two year state college, excellence continues to be the hallmark of all our work and activities. We are the preferred choice of approximately 3,000 students who want a small college experience filled with performance and service opportunities. Our residential campus in Ephraim offers outstanding academic transfer programs and limited applied technology programs. Our south campus, located in Richfield, Utah, offers a broad array of excellent applied technology programs and limited academic transfer programs in high demand fields of study. Both campuses are noted for graduates who have excelled in their areas of study.
Snow College attracts quality people. The faculty, staff, and students are exceptional. We invite you to come and experience Snow. Let our family serve you.

Founded in 1888 by local citizens as Sanpete Stake Academy, the school was later renamed Snow Academy to honor The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) leaders Lorenzo Snow and Erastus Snow. The name was changed to Snow College in 1923. The college was transferred from the LDS church to the State of Utah in 1932.

Its football players often go on to play at Division I-A schools, including Brigham Young University, where many of the athletes transfer.
In addition to athletics, Snow College has a notable music program. Thanks to Scott Wilson, the Snow College Jazz Ensemble has been ranked number one junior college in the United States. In addition, Snow host some of the finest music camps in the nation, such as the Juilliard Jazz Rhythm Workshop and the Manhattan to the Mountains Chamber Workshop, held annually.
Snow prides itself on having some of the lowest tuition rates of any accredited institution of higher education in Utah, at just $941 per semester (for year of 2007-2008).

I got accepted to Snow College there, what did you think of it?

I loved Snow College! It was so nice to have a small school with great teachers. 98% of the students there are also in a new place, so everyone is eager to make friends. There are definitely some quirky things about Ephraim, like the seasonal moving of the sheep from one side of town to the other--definitely something to take photos of! Every night at sunset, the wind changes and you can smell the nearby turkey farms.
The small town atmosphere is definitely not for everyone. Every weekend most of the people leave town, leaving the town quite empty. A lot of the local stores close early. There's a one-screen movie theater that changes its show every week. It doesn't take long to walk from one end of the town to another. (At least now there is a Wal-Mart there; there wasn't one when I went there).
I didn't have a car, so I stuck around most every weekend and had to find ways to entertain myself. If you have a car, you might find yourself leaving town like everyone else. But I found the town very safe, very comfortable, and a wonderful way to ease into the college life.

All the colleges/universities in Utah have a decent music program, but there isn't really a school that is known for its program. You're probably just fine at Snow--you are getting a lot of personalized attention and can take that to another school. Transferring with an Associates will give you a jump on things.
