SSU Description

Located in the scenic northern California wine country, within driving distance to urban areas like San Francisco and San Jose, Sonoma State University (SSU) is a place for new experiences.

The school has undergraduate and graduate degrees and concentrations in Athletic Training, Computer and Engineering Science, Women’s and Gender Studies, and Zoology. It has been ranked as one of the top master’s universities in the Western U.S. and has received awards and recognition for being a “green” campus and a model for sustainability.

SSU has a learning center where students can go to receive academic support such as tutoring and language assistance for English proficiency. The university also provides financial aid to those who are eligible, and it accepts military personnel and veteran’s benefits for many of its educational programs.

In addition to academics, SSU has various athletic programs, clubs, organizations, and cultural and recreational activities and events for interested students. One of its exceptional organizations is the Join Us Making Progress (JUMP) community service program. JUMP encourages students to impact change and make the world a better place through volunteerism.

Those who want a reasonably sized, diverse California state school in close proximity to all that the Bay Area has to offer should think about Sonoma State University while they research potential colleges.
