For prospective cosmetology students in the Joplin, Missouri area, becoming an active member of the beauty industry is as easy as checking out the New Dimensions School of Hair Design.

Admissions policy states that students must be at least 17 years old, with the distinction of having earned a high school diploma or GED certificate.

By the time you’ve completed one of the three programs, Cosmetology, Manicuring, or Instructor Training, you’ll have earned a certificate and become prepared to take the state licensing exam.

In the Cosmetology track, which is about 1500 hours in duration, students will learn shampooing, hair coloring, shaping, permanent waving and relaxing, scalp treatments, facials, eyebrows, arches, manicuring, nail treatments, salesmanship, salon management, sterilization, anatomy, cosmetic chemistry, state law, and more.

Manicuring students learn nail technology, using certain chemicals, nail anatomy, sanitation, safety, salon management and more in around 400 hours of study.

Instructor Training students learn the basic principles of teaching, psychology, business experience and management, and practicing teaching in around 600 hours of study.

Financial aid options for eligible students include loans, grants, and work-study programs, which can help cover the cost of tuition.
