CCSJ Description
Calumet College of St. Joseph (CCSJ) is a small, four-year Catholic college dedicated not only to high-quality academics, but also to a social justice mission.
Academic offerings at CCSJ include undergraduate degrees in such varied fields as Accounting, Communications, Criminal Justice, Education, Social Services, Counseling, Creative Writing, Fine Arts, Paralegal/Pre-Law Studies, and Religious Studies, among others.
CCSJ also offers several graduate degrees in such fields as Education and Counseling, as well as certificate programs through on-line and on-site study.
CCSJ’s academics are of exceptional quality, and caring and learned professors are highly accessible in this intimate learning environment.
However, CCSJ goes a step beyond offering a high quality education by requiring its students to participate in numerous social justice and service programs.
For example, groups of faculty, staff and students travel every spring to Guatemala to serve the poor. Students also participate in volunteer work throughout the community, working at soup kitchens, retirement homes, hospitals, blood drives, and other charitable organizations.
Students at CCSJ also regularly attend to the needs of the world’s poor and starving by joining such organizations as the Peace Corps.
CCSJ’s student life also reflects their commitment to Catholic teachings. Bible study, religious services and a campus ministry are some of the offerings. There are also clubs and organizations designed to foster what’s learned in the classroom or to cultivate additional talents or interests. These include a creative writing club, a media and fine arts club and a club for criminal justice majors.
Student services at CCSJ include comprehensive career development and placement services, academic support such as tutoring, advising and study groups, disability services and financial aid for those who qualify.
