Description

Founded over a century ago, the American College of Hairstyling prides itself on being one of the oldest barbering institutes in the United States. The school’s expansive curriculum teaches hairstyling for barbers and cosmetologists alike.

ACH Cedar Rapids academics include the following courses:

  • Basic Barbering & Hairstyling
  • Master Barbering & Hairstyling
  • Barbering & Hairstyling for Cosmetologists

The Basic course consists of 2160 clock hours, and synthesizes classroom and practical learning. This course is designed for beginning students, while the Master course is intended for those who want to manage or open their own salon. The Master course combines the Basic curriculum with a 540-hour internship.

The course for cosmetologists provides extra hairstyling instruction for licensed beauticians, preparing them for the state barbering/hairstyling licensing exam. If this 1080-hour course is inconvenient, the American College of Hairstyling also offers a 400-hour refresher course for licensed barbers and cosmetologists.

While the American College of Hairstyling at Cedar Rapids does not offer scholarships, several forms of need-based financial aid are available to those who qualify. These opportunities include Pell grants, Stafford loans and state-funded grants.
