UPRH Description

The University of Puerto Rico – Humacao aims to deal with a changing society and its advancing technologies by producing students who are capable of meeting the needs created by this progress. Through an affordable education that values Puerto Rican culture and artistic growth, the university promotes adaptable and free-thinking students able to fit the career niches of an evolving world.

The University of Puerto Rico offers nearly 20 options for pursuit of a bachelor’s degree, including programs like Wildlife Management, Industrial Chemistry and Social Work. The university also offers nearly 10 associate’s degrees in areas like Chemical Technology, Nursing and Office Systems. A handful of transfer programs in areas such as Social Sciences and Humanities are also offered.

To be considered for admissions, students must be graduates of a high school, or candidates for graduation. Students who have passed the examination of the Outreach Division of the Department of Education (TDEE) are also considered if they have studied at a university level.

Tuition is lowered for in-state students and runs noticeably lower than many other Puerto Rican universities. However the university’s goal is to keep income from becoming a deterrent for an education, and therefore financial aid is offered in the form of grants, loans and work-study.
