Nursing is one of the rare professions that is constantly evolving and looking for fresh prospects to join the rewarding field. If you reside in the Henrico, Virginia area, Saint Mary’s Hospital School of Practical Nursing can help prepare you to become a skilled and valued member of the profession.

Admission requirements include possessing a GED or high school diploma, presenting three references from work or school, and coming in for an interview.

The Practical Nursing program lasts around 18 months and is separated into two programs. One is taught from September to June, while the other is from June to March. In that time, students will learn ethics, clinical skills, nutrition and different types of nursing specialties like geriatric nursing, pharmacology, surgical nursing, maternity, pediatrics, psychiatry, rehabilitative treatment, and more. Experience extends past the classroom as students work inside a hospital in their second year.

After the program has completed, students will be prepared to take the national licensing examination. The school’s job placement connections can help students find employment.
