Cañada College is a unique community college. Because it is one of the smallest community colleges in the Bay Area we are more like a private college. Our class sizes are small and our faculty has one mission - to help you achieve your academic goals. You won't find yourself in a large lecture hall being taught by a graduate student. Many members of our faculty have earned Ph.D.'s and they enjoy mentoring students. That's one reason we are historically one of California 's best community colleges when it comes to transferring students to four-year schools.
While we are small, we have a full array of courses that transfer to universities as general education requirements. We also have the first University Center developed in California . It offers bachelor's degrees in nursing, business administration, liberal studies, and child and adolescent development in addition to teaching credentials for elementary and secondary schools and an accelerated executive master's degree in business administration. More than 1,000 students are on campus earning degrees in this unique program funded by the California Legislature. Our original and largest partner in this effort is San Francisco State University .
Cañada College also opens doors for adult learners looking for a career change. You can pursue a career in medical assisting, radiologic technology, multimedia, early childhood education, fashion design, interior design, human services, accounting, business technology, and many other fields that are described on this site. Whether you need to start your new career by first learning English or you already have a bachelor's degree, Cañada College can help you on the path to a new career.
High school students also have a place at Cañada College . Did you know that local high school students can take courses for free beginning their sophomore year? Ambitious high school students can essentially finish their first two years of college at no cost, saving thousands of dollars. We also know that the high school learning environment isn't right for everyone. Our Middle College High School program allows students from the Sequoia High School District to earn their diploma and also gain college credits. College classes are also available to students at Sequoia High School through our Upward Bound Program at that school. Our professors also teach courses at East Palo Alto High School .
Cañada College is a community college located at 4200 Farm Hill Boulevard in Redwood City, California, just off of Highway 280. Cañada College opened in 1968 as part of the three-school San Mateo County Community College District. It is one of the smallest community colleges in the San Francisco Bay Area. The college is located on 131 acres in the western part of Redwood City.
The college is unique in that it was one of the first community colleges in California to partner with four-year universities to offer bachelor degrees on-site. It offers bachelor's degrees in nursing, business administration, liberal studies, and child and adolescent development in addition to teaching credentials for elementary and secondary schools and an accelerated executive master's degree in business administration. Canada College has the largest University Center in the California community college system.
Cañada has award-winning fashion design, interior design, and video game art programs. The college has the largest English Language Institute in the Bay Area and is a destination for people enrolled in English as a Second Language programs. Cañada College historically has one of the highest transfer rates for students moving on to four-year colleges and universities.
