UVI Description

Situated in one of the most desirable locations on earth, the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) in St. Thomas offers more than just balmy breezes along a coastline of kaleidoscopic beauty. University of Virgin Islands is also home to strong exchange programs and academics, including the highly impressive engineering and pre-med programs.

A comprehensive University, UVI offers academics in liberal arts, social sciences, business, and more.

It is probably the 3-2 Engineering program that is most well known. Through this program, students attend University of Virgin Islands for three years and in the fourth year transfer to one of several reputable U.S. universities, including Columbia University, University of Florida and Washington University in St. Louis.

UVI also has a similar program in pre-med; students of this program transfer in their fourth year to the prestigious Boston University Medical School.

There are also other opportunities for UVI students, from all majors, to attend other universities in the U.S. and Mexico. The National Student Exchange program at UVI is linked with over 170 universities and gives students a semester or year of study at the site of exchange.

Applicants should show a strong high school grade history and standardized test scores, but UVI admissions takes into consideration a variety of factors and the individual. Visit the website to fill out an application and to read more about admission standards.

As for college life, the clubs and organizations round out the strong collegiate atmosphere at UVI and are, in great part, focused on academics. There are also a number of social and athletic activities at UVI.

Campus life and student service offerings are comprehensive and include career counseling, tutoring and a vibrant residence life.

Financial aid is available based on academic achievement and financial need. UVI tuition rates are also significantly lower for in-state residents.

I think UVI is a great school. Especially for those choosing nursing as a career! What I like most is the support I receive from my nursing advisor! From the time I started UVI, the nursing school staff has been there to help me through everything.

This school is awesome. Beautiful view. Is located on the beach for snorkeling and diving classes. This campus is packed with culture. And has amazing teachers especially in the math department. There are many opportunities for anyone who attends this school.
