The Culinary Institute of America School Description

What began in 1946 in New Haven, Connecticut as the country’s first culinary education institution now calls some of today’s internationally celebrated chefs, restaurateurs and food industry insiders alumni. The Culinary Institute of America’s prestigious program has been based in Rye, New York since 1972. There are currently two other CIA branches in St. Helena, California and San Antonio, Texas.

With a curriculum that includes bachelor’s and associate’s degrees in the culinary arts and management, complete with externship opportunities and advanced courses in topics like psychology, law, economics, foreign languages and European history, the Culinary Institute of America boasts a highly renowned and comprehensive approach to the study of cooking.

CIA also provides extension-type courses for professionals and e-learning, or an online education, curricula in partnership with Cornell University for students interested in efficient, distance learning opportunities.
