Reviews for Marlboro College
Marlboro is super great for students who are looking for awesome academics in a smaller setting. We are a small community, but I often find that because we are small we've cultivated a really supportive network for current and past students. My favorite thing about Marlboro is how closely you can work with your professors - I don't think any of my friends who went to larger state schools were able to have a three person class their first semester. Marlboro is also a writing-intensive institution - after my first year here, I've really noticed how my writing has improved. As we say at Marlboro, clear writing is clear thinking.
Because of Marlboro's size (300 students!) you get to have lots of one on one time with your professors and engage in material closely. All of the classes are super interesting, and because of Marlboro's lack of prerequisites students are really open to take whatever they want. The only requirement for students during their first two years is Writing Requirement, which is producing 20 pages of clear and concise writing. The work load is pretty intense, but because all of the classes are really interesting students tend to stay motivated.
Marlboro is in a rural area, so if you're looking for an urban setting this might not be the place. That being said, Marlboro is a welcoming place where all sorts of people are welcome. We have a few active clubs on campus, but any student is free to initiate any new club. Also, we don't have any large athletics teams but we do have a lot of small student lead teams which play only for fun. I think the only "organized" sport we have around here is Broomball - which is just a sign to how awesome Marlboro is.
