Academics Rating

University of Alabama in Huntsville is definitely not the school you want to go to if you want to take the easy route. Classes are challenging and professors push to strive for your best. The workload may feel overwhelming at times, but majority of my teachers have always been very involved with me if I go one-on-one to them and ask for advice, tips, and help. Class size is perfect, for example; small classes such as Speech 113 (a beginning speech class) has about 20 students in it and gave the class some time to connect with each other compared to a biology or chemistry class where you have 50+ students to listen to a lecture every class period. Each class setting is relevant and positive for that specific subject.

Student at This School - Grad Year 2013

Academics Rating

As with most schools, the freshman year classes are the most difficult to get through. It's not necessarily that they're so much harder, just that the professors are harder on you about getting things done, doing it exactly the way they want, and mostly just challenging you to go past the limits of what you've already learned. Classes are larger, professors much stricter about attendance, and generally there is a lot of homework. Once you get past 100 level classes everything is so much more relaxed with both professor and student. smaller classes give a much more personal learning experience.
