Overall

I like the old-school feel of the campus. The architecture of the buildings and beauty of the campus grounds really enhances the atmosphere of the whole college experience. Because the Montessori philosophy espouses the prepared environment as the most essential element for a child's learning and growth, I feel Westminster provides that kind of environment where learning can take place.

Academics

The classrooms, as well as common and open areas, are equipped with wi-fi. Westminster is up to speed on their use of technology around campus. They have a very organized computer-support team always ready to navigate any technical issues. My master's classes have been pretty small with only 10-12 students. I did my undergraduate work at a university with 30,000 students, so Westminster has a smaller feel.

College Life

Since I'm in a master's program and married with 5 children and commuting into Salt Lake, I don't participate in much of the campus life activities (except the summer rootbeer float hours on Friday). I've notices the presence of campus security members who become familiar faces as they patrol campus constantly and are very approachable and helpful.

Westminster is diverse. I have been happy here but often miss the opportunities and relationships that come with fraternity life. Since I am from the south, I also mourn the absence of football. Football is such a huge part of college life for many. The outdoor life that salt lake provides many fun activities.

Academics

Te aviation program is challenging to say the least. It is exciting and exhilarating. It is hard at times. It has enabled me to mature and " rise to the occasion" over and over again. My friends back home still can't believe that I can really fly and land planes.

College Life

It is outdoorsy here which is one reason I came. I spend my weekends hiking, climbing, and skiing. The athletics are not terribly enticing and as stated earlier, there is no football. The student center has a great climbing wall and pool and my roommate and I work out almost daily.

I love Westminster College. Everyone on campus is motivated for my experience here to be successful. The community of students are goal focus and respectful to the many diverse opportunities offered here. In my second semester of my first year and totally content with my decision to attend Westminster College.

Academics

Westminster is a small private school with many educational opportunities. My classes are small, and my professors are motivated to help me succeed. They are personally and readily available to help me with any questions or issues I may have. I am in the aviation program, and I am so excited with how quickly I am progressing in my classroom in the sky.

College Life

Westminster housing is the best, and administration has figuring roommates down to an almost perfect science. I room in apartment style housing with 5 other students. Even though Salt Lake City is a large city, stepping on to campus at Westminster you enter a small town atmosphere, with plenty to do and see right on campus. What a great location of weekend activities year round. From snowboarding in the winter to biking hiking and exploring the beautiful Utah, the opportunities are endless. Then with the city being just a step off of campus, there are malls, and restaurants and many social activities. I am an AFROTC cadet, and the relationship that Westminster has provided for us with the program and U of U is amazing!

I enjoy the atmosphere at this college. As far as tips, just have fun this school has higher expectations if you are transferring in like I did. The food is great it is really fresh and there are many options if you are wanting something specific.

Academics

My advise meet with your professors and find out what they expect from you the entire way through the semester, this will show them you care about doing well and will help you do well. The teachers respond to e-mail questions you send them very quickly, the longest I have waited for a response was 15 min. There are smaller the classes are small and the teachers try their best to help us learn whatever we want to, the biggest class I am in currently has 20 people and the biggest class that I will ever be in is 25 people. My professors know me by name and I have run into them on campus outside of class and have talked about other subjects besides what they are teaching in class.

College Life

Every weekend there is a new activity, this weekend it is cosmic bowling at a local bowling alley for 3 hours the school has rented out the lanes for this. We have had a halloween dance for the school that was a lot of fun and movie showings most Wednesdays at school. Wednesdays are really fun they are called "wild Wednesdays" and there is always an activity. The sports are great, we have good soccer teams and lacrosse as well. I am not in any clubs on campus yet but I have seen meeting flyers all over campus.

The best part of this school are the small class sizes, the professors and all of the extra curricular activities that Salt Lake City has to offer. This college is extremely expensive making it hard to afford to attend.

Academics

Classes tend to be very challenging, usually very small class sizes, classes are very interactive and get everyone involved. Professors are either really good or really bad. Depending on how good the professor is, has a large impact on your grade. Workload can get hard to handle.

College Life

Lots of sports and outdoorsy type of activities. The school is always holding activities and things to do for its students throughout the school year. many clubs and organizations. Campus patrol is around 24/7. Weekends are fun filled and long.

My first year of school I attended the University of Utah. I struggled at the university because of how large the classes were. Transferring to Westminster College was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. I love how approachable all the professors are and how small the classes are. This makes learning a lot more productive for me.

Academics

The class size varies from as little as 13-20 students per class. Since it is a liberal arts school they put emphasis in having well rounded students. You have to take a large variety of classes, and give a lot of verbal presentations. I think this is a great way of learning.

College Life

The campus is in sugarhouse, Utah. It has a great atmosphere, the city is clean and its right in Salt Lake City. There is always something to do, and since this school is so small everyone knows each other, so it is a very tight knit group.

My decision to attend Westminster College has been the greatest decision I've ever made. Westminster has given me an immense amount of opportunities, from networking with faculty members to further my understanding of professional fields, to expanding my awareness of diversity and the issues that still stand to be addressed. As a commuter student I worked hard my freshman year to get involved in the social aspect within the private Liberal Arts College. Since then I have become an essential key player in each organization I am involved in. For example, I am a Peer Mentor for all students on campus. The role of a Peer Mentor is to be a facilitator of healthily and balanced lifestyles, which I have found to be a key aspect of any hectic college students life. Without Westminster I would not have gained the leadership qualities I how have. My overall experience of Westminster College has been excellent. I would recommend many to attend.

Academics

Each class I have been enrolled in at Westminster has each been a worthwhile experience. There have been only a few classes where I felt really inferior, yet I realize now that was only challenging me to expand my knowledge and really dive into the subject. The college has taken advantage of their small class sizes to provide students with one on one interactions with their professors. I found that if I am ever struggling with a subject, my professor is very easy to contact and is always able to meet with me to work on my questions. The workload ultimately depends on the major you're pursuing. With so many majors to consider there is the option for a light load but also a very heavy load, which is often found in the sciences. Overall Westminster's academics are above average in my opinion because the professors don't necessary teach for an exam but rather they teach to enhance a students understanding. The professors have great passion for their subjects at Westminster.

College Life

Since Westminster is a private Liberal Arts College there are only a few thousand students attending. Thus Westminster has a great social atmosphere on campus because everyone knows everyone through small classes, mutual friends, or clubs and organizations. The Westminster community probably has a club for everyone and if not, you can make your own. One particularly popular event on campus are the weekly Wild Wednesday events. Wild Wednesday events are put on by the Students Activity Commission who take pride in offering a weekly event to help students relax and meet new people. Whether you're a commuter or an one campus resident, there is always something going one to participate in on campus. Off campus there are several events sponsored by Westminster but also the community that Westminster is apart of is great. The mountains are less than 10 minutes away, the University of Utah is about 5 minutes away, downtown is only 15 minutes away and the Sugarhouse community is continuously expanding with an essences for a college town . My friends and I have no trouble finding something to do with our weekends, from the campus events, the downtown scene, to trying the new restaurants in the area. Academics at Westminster can be challenging, daunting, and stressful, but the community off a great escape for relaxation.

I love Westminster College. It is an awesome school. As a freshman, I attended the 3 day orientation, and it was super fun. We did city-wide scavenger hunts, watched movies on the grass at night, had a massive game of rock paper scissors with all the freshman, we also had different activities with upperclassmen, like a campus wide block party and water balloon fight. Now that we are in class, its just as awesome. A tip for prospective students is to get good grades in high school so that they can get different scholarships. Also, when you go to college, be friendly so you can make new friends.

Academics

Westminster offers a variety of programs for you to major or minor in, and if you don't see one that interests you, you can "make your own major". The professors are really awesome, and spend alot of one on one time to make sure that you understand the material. This college has an average workload. The class size is really awesome, it has small classes. My biggest class has about 25 students in it, and it is full.

College Life

There is a great social atmosphere, everyone is friendly, accepting, and willing to be your friend. There are a lot of different clubs, instrumerials, fitness "fun" classes, and sports that you can be apart of. This is a very safe small campus. There are a wide range of athletic teams, and if its not a team, then there are instrumerials. There isn't specific weekend activities, but no matter what day it is, you can almost always find an activity on campus.

I think Westminster College has high goals and standards for students to abide by which makes the learning environment a more safe place to express all sorts of ideas and thoughts. This college cares about it's students and how they view things as well as what will make for the best learning experience. The college wants a diverse selection of students, especially students who carry leadership qualities and good academic standing. If one wants a small school with an awareness about its students then I would recommend prospective students to apply and visit the campus to see if it fits their needs.

Academics

Coming from a high school with hard classes, it made the transition to college an easy adjustment. Most of the teachers are passionate and caring about their students and make their best effort to listen to opinions and treat students as individuals. Having your opinion heard is very important with the learning environment and having small class sizes allows you to get closer to more people and get the treatment each student deserves.

College Life

Westminster has been making an effort to improve their social atmosphere by creating more activities and clubs. I think Westminster needs a little more work, but they are right on track. Being a commuter student it is also hard to me to fully judge the campus on this since I'm not there all the time. So this perspective is from a narrow viewpoint, although I know for certain I feel very safe on the campus.

Westminster College is my home away from home. The atmosphere holds an amazing combination of being relaxed yet driven to providing the success of each individual student. Westminster caters to everyone, they are supportive in their students endeavors and provide one-on-one counseling for each major. If you are considering Westminster, I have one tip for you. Try everything! Westminster offers more than 60 extracurricular options and they have so much fun! If you check out at least one "Wild Wednesday" you will see what I mean!

Academics

Westminster has a diverse selection of classes, majors, and programs. All of the students meet with a START center counselor at least twice a year to make sure they are on track for graduation and/or pursuing any major that grabs a piece of their interest. The class size is something that I love to brag about, the average size is 19-1. My largest class as a Freshman was 23 students to 1 professor, and that was a Pre-Req for almost EVERY major!

College Life

The social atmosphere of Westminster is one of the greatest I saw when I was touring colleges. The Commons area always has students studying, eating, and just all around hanging out. The campus provides a safe environment and the Activities commission provides fun year-round.
