About Oakton Community College

Oakton Community College distinguishes itself by offering the best of two worlds. Located in Des Plaines, Illinois, Oakton Community College (OCC)'s academic and cultural offerings are those of a much larger school; the personalized learning environment, however, is that of a small, intimate college.

Oakton Community College lets you pursue your academic interests by offering associate's and certificate programs in over 75 areas of study, including everything from the arts to business to the sciences.

This array of offerings does not equal large, overly populated classes though. In fact, most classes are limited to as few as 14 or 15 students, allowing for more one-on-one student-teacher interaction.

College life at Oakton Community College also combines vibrancy with intimacy. Located on campus is the Koehnline Museum of Art, which features work from highly acclaimed Chicago-based artists. There is also the Performing Arts Center, the jazz concert series, and the writer's series, which brings in well-known authors and poets from the area.

The student clubs also boast a wide selection with a personal feel. Many of the 50-plus club offerings are highly specific in their focus, such as the Hawaiian Music Club, giving students the chance to interact with a small group of like-minded enthusiasts.

As personalized as the rest of its diverse offerings are OCC's student services. In addition to an on-campus health center there is Student Health 101, an online, interactive health journal where students may ask health-related questions on their own time.

Students also receive comprehensive one-on-one career counseling and preparation which includes resume and interview practice with a certified counselor.

To assist with Oakton Community College tuition costs, financial aid offerings are available for eligible students.

I have all good things to say as my daughter transferred out of a University to attend Oakton and is very happy- My mother in law retired from the school, always had good things to say, I tried to get a job there in the past and now am doing on line classes so I give both campuses a gold star
