Overall

Over all the school does a great job for a community college. The staff is always friendly and has representatives to speak to you about any question about your education or classes to you. I came in as a high school student, and they have a whole office devoted to helping me, and other high school students with the non-traditional education route.

Academics

Many of the professor's were very well qualified, and were very willing to help me reach my goals and fully understand the topics discussed in class, and earn the highest grade I could. Teacher's did an excellent job of teaching their classes, and conducting the class room with integrity.

Campus Facilities & Safety

Arapahoe does an excellent job at making sure all the students know where the campus police office is, and the number to call it from any land line in the building. The front desk also kept up with making phone calls and emails to all the students if there was ever anything we needed to know about, such as any criminal reports of the area, etc.

Overall

For being a recent high school graduate, Arapahoe Community College has made the transition from high school to college very easy for me. I love the overall atmosphere of the school, but there are a few concerns I have. The library is too small for the number of students that are using it. I think if the library were to be expanded or more study rooms were created in a separate section of the school I would be able to have a quiet environmnet to study and do homework in.

Academics

For the most part my professors are very nice and respectful to each other and their students. However, I have had classes with terrible teachers, who told me I didn't participate in class when I talked almost every class session. I don't like my teachers judging me and telling me that what I said in class wasn't good enough, when the teacher wasn't even teaching the class like it was an introduction class. For the most part the class size is average 25-30 students per class. I think the small class size gives students the chance to have one on one time with the professor which is very beneficial to the learning experience.

Campus Facilities & Safety

In regards to campus parking, I think there needs to be a parking structure that is covered with some type of roof. With all of the snow and bad weather that Colorado experiences, I think a parking structure would make parking and the overall atmosphere safer to navigate in. There are plenty of ways for students to get invoved on campus, and I am involved in the Honor Society, and The President's Advisory Council. I love being able to be involved on campus and make a difference for the school.

Overall

Professors are great, the support staff is not. Financial aid is not even remotely helpful, it is a miracle if you can get them to return an email or a phone call. The career counselors have no clue what they are talking about. You will get a different response to one question from each of them. Don't take anything they tell you at face value, research it yourself.

Academics

The professors and the classes are great for the money. I have not meet a professor yet that has not been helpful and supportive. Workload is challenging in some of the classes but doable if your manage your time right. Overall I would say the professors are the best part of the school.

Campus Facilities & Safety

Atmosphere is clean and quiet. Computer lab & library are great, but neither is open on Sunday and only for a short time on Saturday. Parking and security seem fine, haven't seen or heard of any theft or violence since I have been here. Bookstore is stocked well and there staff is helpful.

Overall

The student body is a diverse group of individuals which I feel enriches the social atmosphere. The classes usually fill to capacity and as in my case, are not offered every semester. So for that reason, you must stay on top of enrollment dates to get the classes in sequence as needed. The quality of the education is outstanding. The course work is difficult, but not impossible. It feels like a four year institution in the depth of the information being taught.

Academics

Class sizes are not huge like at four year institutions, even though they do ususally fill to capacity. The deans are incredible in helping individual students as well as their faculty to keep lines of communication open and an ongoing dialog to improve and expand what ACC offers. As I stated above, the cousework is difficult (as it should be at the colloege level) and definitely keeps me busy as I do work part time as well. Even with my online classes, the instructors reply to any inquiries promptly and keep the grading very current. There are also online discussion boards where students can communicate with other students that are located all over the state. I am extremely satified in the quality of education I am receiving.

Campus Facilities & Safety

I do have a criticism in this category. The computer lab has limited hours - too limited. I am currently working on a group project where we can only meet at night and the lab closes early on Friday night (5 pm) and has very limited weekend hours. It is open Saturday from 9am to 2 pm and closed on Sundays. The campus itself is kept very clean and well maintained at all times. It has community functions on campus 2 to 3 times a month which keeps the community involved and hopefully helps them to realize what a gem they have in their backyard. This I feel will help them to continue to support the college finacially and well as by particiapating in functions.

It's a great learning environment for students that are more hands on, my biggest class was about fifty people.I like the teachers, they treated you like an adult and made you responsible, but also were willing to help. There were computer labs but I wish there were more, and same with parking spaces.

Overall

I have been in and out of school for many years and I have never been to a school that has the doctrine Arapahoe Community College. What I mean by this is to have a department head that will take a few hours out of their day to meet with you and go over the program you are just interested in. Will it made me feel special and now I am in the process of submitting my application and requesting my transcripts from the other schools I attended. If a student is looking for a school that will look at them as more than just a number this is the school to consider

Academics

I am taking a sort of roundabout route in to the Health Information Technology field. I am first going to get my certification in Medical Billing Coding and then use those credits for the AA degree in Health Information Technology. I believe if I can start working in the field as a Medical Billing Coder I would stand a better chance of getting a job in Health Information Technology. If the director of the department is an example of the professors, than I am in for a wonderful experience. The workload will be very intense because of this being a part of the medical field, and because I still have to work. The medical terminology that I don't know but am required to know, science classes that I am required to take in order to get both the certificate and degree. There is also a required internship for both programs. I was told during my meeting with the department head that the class sides are intentionally came small.

Campus Facilities & Safety

I was not given a tour of the campus during my visit so I am not able to answer all of the above questions. What I did notice was that the parking was better than most colleges I have been to. Parking was very convenient and had no problem in finding it. The campus atmosphere was like most campus very busy, but the students where more than willing to help and provide directions. Like most Universities there where emergency campus phones located near the parking area and the main building where my appointment was.
