Overall

The campus is incredible. The academics where first class. The athletic programs are well run and organized but highly focused on academics. Professors were the best in their class and great teachers.

Academics

Classes are very demanding due to the quarter system. The professors challenge you to understand the subject matter in a short period of time. Class size varies depending on the demand for the class.

College Life

Social atmosphere is great and a tight nit community. Intermural sports are fun and well organizes. The community rallies around its athletic programs and always have a great turnout for games. The campus is incredibly safe.

Overall

UC Davis is a great place to go to undergrad, especially if you are looking to be in a college town. It's very much a small town feel that is centered on the university. The students who go they are smart and good all around people. If you are looking to be in a big city, this is not the place, but the proximity to Lake Tahoe and the Bay Area is nice. The main downside is a lack of big-time (Division I) college sports as well as a strong undergrad business program (at least when I was there). Overall, I'd recommend UC Davis to any student that is looking for a solid education in a small college town.

Academics

Academics at UC Davis are quite strong and the classes and professors are great. It is an especially strong school if you are a science major and want to go into health science or some other science-based field. The undergrad business program wasn't the best and when I went, and only featured an Agricultural-Econ program. Given they have a pretty good business school, I would think that this has improved or will improve over time.

College Life

Definitely a small college town that is centered around the university. The campus is quite safe compared to other colleges and offers a fair amount to do. There is a solid amount of nightlife, but not to the extent that exists in big cities. The upside is that the town is mostly college students, which makes for a nice college experience.

Overall

college atmosphere was excellent and the campus and location of the school in the small town of Davis, where the campus really was the town, made for a unique college experience. The school and the professors were top tier and the quality of education compared to any top University of California School.

Academics

Workload varied depending upon the quarter, but I usually took a heavy schedule so that I could graduate early. Had enough units to graduate in 3 1/2 years but remained for four and took additional classes. Class size, back in the seventies, wasn't large other than a few ecomomic classes but that's not relevant today! Generally the professors were dedicated and committed to their students and allowed addtional interaction if necessary.

College Life

Weeked activites were filled with campus events, sports programs and access to three distinct areas that are unique to Davis all about the same distance from Davis-Napa Valley, San Francisco, and Lake Tahoe, all of which provided amazing excursions from Davis on wekends!! Many clubs were offered for the club crowd as well as a thriving greek social life. Safety amazing-you could bike anywere on and off campus and feel safe. In fact it's the biking mecca of college campuses!

Overall

Overall I was very happy with the school. The campus is safe, clean and an awesome place to learn. I was a little disappointed in the quality and lack of advising services on campus. Also, I was always a little confused as to how the administration claimed we were in a budget crisis and just kept spending money.

Academics

Class sizes are a little big, depending on your major. I've taken classes where the class size was in the 500s, but at the same time I've had classes with 15 people in them. It really depends on what classes you take. Workload was heavy, but its a world class university. And there are good professors and bad ones - again it depends.

College Life

Tons of activities - there is never a reason not to have something to do outside of your school work. Plays, musical events, sporting events, the bars - there is always something happening in Davis that you can be a part of.

Overall

The school has a good atmosphere that supports student's decisions that allows them to aspire to their goals as well as inspire them with new ideas which help them further strive for success in their lives.

Academics

My school has a reliable education system which challenges the students in a way that allows them to grow and develop themselves in a way that helps them to become benefits to their peers as well as society.

College Life

There are many different clubs that provide a diverse and unique way for students and staff to intermingle, providing a distinctive way for them to expand their culture and develop their worldwide views.
