To extend its services to students beyond Iowa, the Upper Iowa University has established an online school that offers students all over the world the opportunity to pursue postsecondary academics at multiple levels, from certificate programs to bachelor’s degrees to master’s degrees.
UIU’s online school has received numerous accolades since its inception, like being ranked in the top five distance education systems by the Online Education Database.
The Upper Iowa University strives to accommodate students with busy schedules by offering its programs at six different start times throughout the year. In addition, students have the freedom to set their own schedule. While students will have to complete assignments and contribute to discussions, they will have the option to do so at any time of the day or evening.
Students who have already completed coursework at a community college can transfer up to 90 hours of undergraduate credits into a baccalaureate programs and up to 12 credits if pursuing a graduate degree at UIU.
A wide breadth of programs is available through UIU’s online school, including:
- Emergency and Disaster Management
- Management Information Systems

- Business Administration
No matter where you reside, UIU’s online school offers the same tuition rates to all students. To be considered for financial aid through federal Pell grants, Iowa tuition grants and Stafford loans, you must file a FAFSA.
UIU’s online school keeps an open admissions policy, which considers each applicant for enrollment as long as they have earned a high school diploma or GED. Students can apply via UIU’s website.
