Reviews for Saint Joseph's University
I attended SJU for undergrad and grad school and I always said that I couldn't stand 97% of the Hawk population, but that the 3% that I did like were phenomenal. Sort of an inside joke. I had a great experience obtaining both degrees! The Hawk spirit is an acquired taste and some people took it WAY too far. But it all came from a great place, which I enjoyed.
The best thing about SJU was the faculty. Both the Jesuits and lay personnel were attentive and genuine. I truly felt I learned a lot from them all, in both academics and life. The small class size was key and I continued many of my faculty relationships beyond graduation. I would love to teach there now. My grad experience was heavenly.
SJU is definitely a niche school, meaning once you find yours, you'll be a happy camper. I felt bad for those who didn't. I was lucky enough to find mine and loved those who I found within it. I love that the Hawks are Roman Catholic based, but they're not abrasive nor judgmental. SJU is always criticized for its spirit of inclusion, but I always have and always will defend it. The Jesuits, staff, faculty and students certainly embody the spirit of Christ and his mission. I was proud to be a part of Campus Ministry and social justice while I was a student. Some of my best memories are from Wolfington.
