Overall
I had a great experience at Harper College. Whenever I needed help, it was available there was always someone there to assist you. If they did not know the answer they would find smeone that did. I decicded to go back to school. I saw that they had an Associates Degree program in Human services. I started classes and they were great, some were large and some wee small. I really enjoy working with people so this was perfect for me. I had the greatest professor when I started. She has been an inspiration to me and has also been there when I really needed help. We as a group decided to start a club for Human Services. We have had great progress and have well over 50 members since November. I believe that any student that are entering school should get to know what is available to them, get aquainted with the clubs and with the school in general. It is a great experience if you get involved. I must add that I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa and look forward to getting my B.A in social work.
Academics
The classes that I have experienced were small and large groups, which were not a problem for me. There are many programs available. There are online courses and blended courses to make it easier for students that work or just can't make it to school. The professors are very knowledgeable about the course that they are teaching and is geared toward the student. The professors want the student to understand the information that they are teaching, so they involve the students to communicate in class and give feedback.
Campus Facilities & Safety
The atmosphere is welcoming. The facility is well lit and open. There are several buildinds and there are directions available outside of each building. The computer lab is nice and clean and have plenty of computers available for students use. There are an abundance of clubs that you can join. If there is a club that someone wants to create that is an option too. There is parking available on any side of the campus and security riding around for students safety. There are also phones available in the parking lots if anyone needs help.
