Reviews for University of West Georgia
From a parent’s perspective, dealing with Administration at the University of West Georgia a nightmare. It’s in my opinion that the Administration office is very unprofessional and ran by students that are not able to make definitive decisions or provide definitive answerers. After trying vigorously to get a financial and academic matter resolved, I just completely gave up. I could never speak to an actually staff person to attempt to pay for my child’s education. If you miss the deadline by one day, they will drop your child from all classes. They refused to meet with me when I wanted to meet with an enrollment, or financial advisor. My only contact was another student that worked in the office whom only provided scripted answers, so the matter never got resolved. Even after writing a letter to the president to the academic affairs office, there was never a response. As a parent, I found that to be extremely disheartening. Based on my experience, I would not recommend University of West Georgia unless you are a parent that’s not involved.
I have toured West Georgia, and I really enjoyed it. I really felt like they were working toward improving and becoming better. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful throughout the whole tour. I chose to attend the University of West Georgia because I felt like they were excited to have me there, and about growing and further improving their school. They also have many resources for students who needed help or support in any aspect of adjusting to college life.
Speech pathology is the major that I am hoping to achieve. The University of West Georgia is one of the few schools who has a speech pathology program. The people I have talked to that have become speech pathologists and attended UWG loved the program.
The University of West Georgia has almost anything imaginable available for students in which to participate. They have fraternities and sororities for those interested in Greek Life. They also have religious groups for students of many different religions. They have athletic clubs, academic clubs, and leadership clubs.
From the moment I toured the school I felt like I belonged here. I think this school has a great overall atmosphere about it, the facilities are all top class, the residential life is a luxury itself and the programs are one of a kind. When I researched the first year programs I new I wanted to go here, because the UWG 1101 helps first year adjust to their new life on or off campus. One of my most memorable experiences is when I toured the different resident style apartments and I enjoyed that they had different help sessions for certain subjects to help us as well.
My other favorite schools program is the emerging leader program. This program is specifically designed to help promote students to take on the leadership role in their community. Another program I really liked about UWG is the RPM (residential peer mentoring) program I think that this is one of the best programs at UWG, it alows first years to interact with their upperclassmen outside of campus so they won't feel overwhelmed at school and only will they get the help they need to survive their new classes but they will also become more involved in campus activities.
The best thing that I liked about campus life is they have a specific housing for freshman only bowdon hall. This hall will allow all incoming freshman to assist each other during their first year on west georgias campus. The university also has a bookstore to fit all of our basic academic needs if we need a calculator, pencils a bookbag even if we want to buy west georgia gear. Another good thing that this campus offers is there are on campus events for all students to participate in.
